Shade-y: Star Jones Says Anderson Cooper Only Came Out For Ratings Just Like Oprah Said She Did Crack In The ’90s

Honestly, I don’t even remember Oprah admitting to doing crack but considering that happened in 1995 I’ll give myself a pass. Either way, in a recent appearance on a segment of the “Today Show” known as “Today’s Professionals,” Star Jones said Oprah admitting to doing drugs was a publicity stunt just like Anderson Cooper’s coming out earlier this week

Here’s what she said when host Natalie Morales asked her and the other guests, Donny Deutsch and Nancy Snyderman, what they thought about Anderson’s decision to state he is homosexual.

“I’m a little bit of a cynic,” Star started. “He’s a daytime talk show host and when the ratings slip in daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them. I remember Oprah said she smoked crack, Oprah said she was pregnant at 14 and considered suicide. There [are] times when you generate information for ratings.”

Star facetiously pretended to be sorry for airing talk show hosts’ dirty little secret, and though I’m sure no one would really discredit her point, it sounds just a tad funny coming from her. This is the same woman who gained attention for what she wouldn’t share with the public when she notoriously denied having gastric bypass surgery for I don’t know how long when she was still a host on “The View.” And just recently Star was ready to start an anti-reality television brigade to get “Basketball Wives” off the air, then suddenly one meeting with Evelyn Lozada and a Vibe magazine mention and Twitter shout out later all was forgiven and they were BFFs. If you’re going to try to throw shade on other people for what they do to boost ratings, lets air our own mess first.

She was also just a tad insensitive to Oprah’s childhood and sounded like she may have something against the talk show host, but maybe I’m just reading into it. Check out the segment here. What do you think about what Star said?

    Star needs to mind her own business and have SEVERAL FU*KIN SEATS!!! Who cares why he said what he said….its HIS BUSINESS!!! He can shout it from a roof top if he wants to….just because the man has a talk show means he cant come out of the closet???? Im confused…….

    I think Star is on fame-crack herself. If AC wanted to get ratings, IMO he would’ve done a special on his show, or maybe done product placement for his upcoming wedding or something

    I’m a little confused. When was it that she denied those things? I thought she admitted to all her faults?

    Her job on The Today show is to be a commentator. That question wasn’t about what she did. She was asked about Anderson. Was she suppose to not say anything?

    I think she was simply doing her job. What gives me a right to JUDGE & CRITICIZE how she does her job?

      No not a first. That’s why people are commenting on this site the way they are. She only admitted her faults once she was let go from the View and her ball of lies started to unravel. Star was a very pretentious snob who thought her stuff didn’t stink for a long time. Star has come a long way from how she used to be, but clearly she still has a long way to go. Being asked about Anderson Cooper coming out of the closet is one thing, but putting Oprah’s name in her mouth when she clearly wasn’t the subject is something different.

      Its not about he answering questions….she could have said she was proud of him and MOVE ON…..but why start a media frenzy by throwing out there that you think he said it for ratings…what??? YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IS TRUE….SO why is it right for you to throw that hearsay out on national television….Being asked about something is fine….but have the common sense to not bring he say/she say into your answer when u dont know the FACTS!!! Thats just like someone asking me about you…and i say well “I think she might be on CRack….” What??? Then everyone bout to look at you strange….WHY DOES IT MATTER WHY HE DID IT….IS THAT FAIR TO HIM???

    It would have definately gone over better had she used herself as examples of trying to get ratings up…she could have used the producers force as a scapgoat.
    But hey, almost anything that those 3 say during that segment can be critized.
    Oh, and I also had no idea about Oprah announcing using crack…totoally slipped over my head too!

    This it’s is the pot calling the kettle black. She has actually done things to get her own ratings up, but i think sure is mad because AC came out of the closet and keeps doing better and better. But people who can’t do will always try to rain on someone else’s parade.

    Star needs to go somewhere and sit down, looks to me that she wants some attention herself. Let us not forget her outrageous wedding that sponsors paid for and btw her ex is definitely gay and just hasn’t come out the closet.

    I am sick of Star Jones running her mouth. How can she even fix her lips to say anything about another person being a ratings seeker. Any and everything she does is simply to stay in the news and be relevent. What’s so sad is that she will throw anybody under the bus to keep her name out there. She needs to realize that her 15 minutes of fame is gone and go back to being a practicing attorney.
