Celebrity magazines are constantly trying to catch celebs red-handed with their pants down, so they can knock them from their famous pedestals and, of course, sell issues. But when “Star Magazine” blasted Ashton Kutcher this week for allegedly swapping spit with a fine young blond, the married actor took to his platform of over 5.5 million followers on Twitter@aplusk:

“STAR magazine – you don’t get to stand behind “freedom of the press” when you are writing fiction.”

Kutcher’s wife actress Demi Moore boasts just under 3 million Twitter followers herself and retweeted her hubby’s message and added “No question my love!”

The best kind of damage control in this instance though seemed to come from outside sources. When gossip blogs started to cover the Ashton/”Star” incident, they began posting pictures of Demi in a bikini. Coincidence? I bet not. Though Demi’s bikini photos were on Twitter for two weeks before the accusations, the blogs could easily snag the picture from the many candid pictures she posts on her page.

Any smart, sassy woman who wants to put rumors of her man cheating–if she has the comfort and confidence of knowing that the rumors are false–would post banging bikini photos. Demi looks amazing in the shot which basically says to everyone: “Ashton, cheat on this? I don’t think so.”

Do you think Demi’s subtle damage control worked to put rumors of a cheating husband to rest, or do you think flaunting like she did may have been a desperate move?
