So What Does Will Smith Think About His Ex-Wife Getting a Reality Show?

A lot of people have been feeling some type of way about the idea of women becoming famous because of who they divorced with all of the attention on VH1′s new show, “Hollywood Exes,” but the most important question is how do the exes feel about these women getting a show because of them.

From the pilot episode, we could see Jose Canseco is still somewhat involved with his ex, which is why he was on the show, so it’s not surprising he doesn’t have a problem with the arrangement, but so far Sheree Fletcher is the only one who has acknowledged her ex-hubby, Will Smith’s, stake in this whole thing. In an interview with Vibe she spoke on involving Will in her decision to join the show and what his reaction was. When they asked her whether she had to get Will’s approval, she said:

“Absolutely, because he is an ex. I didn’t need Will’s permission to do the show; there was nothing that I needed to sign in order to do the show. You know, our son is 19 [years old], so out of respect, of course I told him that this was what I was considering doing. I actually told him when I signed. When I said, ‘Look, this is what I’m going to do,’ he gave me his blessing to have a good time.”

Sheree’s situation is a little interesting because she’s not just an ex, she’s also the wife of Terrell Fletcher, the Sr. Pastor of San Diego’s City of Hope International Church, which means she also needed his approval. She told Vibe:

“He was skeptical at first because of the nature of reality, as was I, but he’s great. You’ll see him in the show. He makes quite a few appearances with me. He’s super supportive and totally on board.”

In this day and age when everybody tries to claim the camera is playing tricks on us and what we’re seeing is really production magic and not real actions, it’s amazing anyone still takes a chance having every minute of their lives videotaped like this. Sheree says for her, the decision to join the cast wasn’t about her trying to be famous but to have fun while also building her brand.

“It looked like it would be a lot of fun,” she said of her choice to be a part of the show. “It was reality but it was a ‘different color of the rainbow.’ They wanted to show women in a more positive light and women coming together and being supportive and encouraging one another, a kind of a sorority type of thing. So that kind of piqued my interest. As a business women, I thought it’d be great in terms of exposure of my brand.

Women coming together in a more positive light is exactly the message she says she wants viewers to take away from the show too.

“First and foremost, women can come together and do something great. We can disagree respectfully. I want people to know that women need women. We really do, and I want women to be encouraged. Like I said, you’ve got five women who are business owners and I’m hoping that that would inspire somebody to step out and start their own thing. I think that we’re very relatable. I think that women will connect to us. We’re women just like anybody else. It doesn’t matter who our exes were. I mean, obviously, we went through our divorce in a public, major way, but at the end of the day, we’re women and we can connect and relate on so many other levels. I’m hoping that women will relate and be encouraged.”

We’ll have to see how that comes across on the first real episode tonight at 9pm. Do you think it was cool of Will to give Sheree his blessing?

  • Real Real

Its sad,do these women who received child support and huge divorce settlements[,could have gone to any school to get educated in any field they chose, sell real esate, get involved with charitable organizations, etc anything} have to do a reality show about exes, because no one knows or cares who they are,to be validated as somebody.Sad,years later and they have only their exes name to be remembered by when they could have validated their Own name by this time!!

Why so many shows surrounding wives, ex wives, girlfriends, ex girlfriends, jumpoffs, baby mamas, etc… Why not a show about men?

    • Treacle234

Men do not bring the drama. Women bring the drama no matter it being wives or not. Have you seen Dance moms, there is drama on that show.

    • Kyndra

kevin heart is doing a show called hollywood husbands which is supposed to be a comedy based on all these shows….

It always starts off positive and sisterhood right before it goes south already the previews for the second week you see glasses being thrown and the hand in faces. They all know you can hold a reality audience without drama plain and simple . They start of kumbayah and holding hands and next thing you know someone voice is raised and slapping and snapping begins.

Well the child support is dried up she has to make some money other ways.

  • Jaytee

How is she on the show as an EX and she’s married? And wasn’t she married to Will in the 80′s? Everybody wants to be on TV.

    • LoveLi

Because she’s still Will’s ex… DUH! Just because you remarry does not mean you’re no longer an ex unless you marry the same person. And what does when they were married have to do with anything? An ex is an ex… stop knocking her hustle.

I’m sick of all these reality shows. Imma need reality starts to go to the farthest corner of the earth and have a seat in it. It’s time for a time out.

    • SMHgurl24

Really who are these people and why do we care about their lives that are actually scripted?! Smh what happed to shows that taught actual lessons..

  • CA Pullen

I will not be watching. I don’t know why these people want to put their personal lives on television having cameras follow them everywhere they go. I will not be watching this show. This is exactly the reason why all kinds of realities shows keeps popping up. People continues to watch them. It seems like the only way to make quick $$$ is to do a reality show. Who is next on the list? Reality shows ruins some people marriages, lives. But people oviously don’t care. It all about money even though the lives are ruined.

I wondered about this! She and Will Smith divorced nearly twenty years ago when he was still the Fresh Prince of Bel Air lol. It’s weird that she’s doing this show decades later and maximizing on that relationship from FOREVER ago. Most people don’t even know he was married before Jada. If Will and Jada are cool with it though, then so am I. I saw bits and pieces of this show and it seems tamer than other reality shows, but then again, Real Housewives of Atlanta was pretty tame at first too….

I like the show so far, hopefully it stays that way. Nicole murphy is gorgeous for having five children. Surgery can’t make your abs looks that good.

  • TRUTH IS
