Beyonce doesn’t do too many collabos these days unless she’s letting her hubby jump on a track, which is why it’s sort of surprising Trey Songz claims he has something in the works with the Queen, or at least he did.
In an interview discussing his upcoming album, Chapter V, he spoke on a few of the artists who will be featured on the tracks like T.I., J. Cole, and Big Sean, but the interviewer threw another interesting name into the mix—Beyonce—and Trey had this to say.
“Beyonce, she had the baby. I thought about that last year because I’ve been making this album for a long time but she was on the road and pregnant and now she’s had the child. I very much respect her space, being that I have a friendship with their family, and I want to make sure that comes first before anything so that when the time is right for us to make a record it will be done.”
So he’s still basically in the hoping, wishing, and praying stage. I did forget that Jay-Z label mates do get first dibs on the queen—or king, I forgot which she’s going by these days—hence her work with Kanye and J. Cole’s mysterious new verse on “Party.” Considering Trey Songz is a part of the Roc-a-Fella fam we could see this collaboration come to light.
There’s another mama Trey has on his wish list, which is Swizz Beatz’ wife Alicia Keys. The singer said he had a track he thought would be perfect for her a little while back but she was also pregnant at the time so it never happened. Looks like babies bring Tremain bad luck.
