Noire Naturals, Episode 2: Maintaining Your Twist-Out Style

June 27th, 2012 - By MN Editor

Now that you’ve learned how to get your twist out (as demonstrated in the first Noire Naturals video), natural hair care specialist Maria Thompson is back to show you how to maintain your two-strand twist out, and keep your look fresh for up to two weeks. “The tighter the coil, the weaker the hair,” says Thompson so it’s important you have the right approach to maintaining the moisture in your hair. Check out the latest installment to get Thompson’s tips on product usage and style maintenance.

Okay I wear two-strand twists all the time and here is the easiest way to maintain the twists. Periodically add your moisture product to your hair e.g. Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk (one of my personal faves), take the two strand twists and make bigger twists all over your head. Sleep in a satin cap or scarf. In the morning take them down and separate them out. You can keep this style for about two weeks. Also never sleep nor wrap your head in cotton fabric because it dries out the hair. Sorry but that was 6 minute product endorsement for Mizani. You don’t need that many products all at once on your hair

I love these tutorials. I hope they start doing some for straight up African hair. I am from West Africa and never know what to do with my hair :(

A mush needed tutorial – however, she addressed product junkies, but introduced at least 5 more products from her line for the purpose of maintaining a hairstyle. I mean, really?

Girl, I’m sayin’ I noticed it too!

She also mentioned using several products daily after she stressed that it is not necessary to apply product daily? Very confusing! She applied at least 3 products…sheesh!

I wish you guys would do this series more often than once a week!
