Madame On the Street: What’s the Worst Advice You’ve Ever Gotten From Your Parents?

Most of our parents have the best intentions but sometimes they can be completely off base when it comes to the advice they give. We took to the streets of New York to see what some of that suspect advice was. There were some interesting responses. Once you’ve watched, let us know what pieces of advice your parents may have given you that was a little less than sound.

    When my ex-husband co-signed a loan for my daughters, my dad said they should default on paying it so that their father would be stuck with it, because he owed them anyway. I said, “Um…Daddy, they can’t throw that dart without getting hit by it.”

    I was bullied in high school for being smart, but I guess she didn’t know how long it had been going on. She kept telling me to ignore them. The lowered my self-esteem.

    My worst advice from my mom is where to find good men and she told me the best place was from the club. When I went with my girlfriends, the men at the club were crazy, egotistical, narcissistic and it was a HUGE turn off with me. Then my grandmother hooked me up with a guy from her church and ended up marrying him and have a daughter together.
