Let the Protesting Begin: King of Diamonds Stripper Show Becoming a Reality

Protestors of “Basketball Wives” and “Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta” might as well keep their e-pens handy because if people are already on fire about those two shows, there’s no way they’re going to let this new reality show fly.

Several months ago, we mentioned rumors a reality show based on the King of Diamonds strip club in Miami was coming to TV and now MissInfo.TV says it’s so:

“This is the story… The story of the money, the girls, the people, the fame and the love. Taking a page from HBO’s hit series CATHOUSE, and FULL THROTTLE, MAKE IT RAIN will be an amalgamation of docu-drama and sexuality, but at the very heart of the piece is a real story. [Owner] Terry managing a thriving business and juggling his other business ventures. At the same time, being a father figure to his employees, giving advice, coaching, paternally guiding some of the girls, making sure that his team of managers (the four horse men) and his self are on the same page, keeping his “A” list celebs clients, music entertainers and athletes happy…and doing all of this as a happily married man with a family of his own”

The first reports about this show said that VH1 was picking it up, but from this NSFW trailer I don’t think they could get away with this. The latest reports simply say a “major network,” and from the looks of things that would have to be a channel like HBO or Showtime, which are mentioned in the description, due to the nudity and language alone. Either way, I’m sure none of us is thrilled about this little “docu-drama.” I wonder what it’s favor patrons, Rick Ross, Diddy, Lil Wayne, and Drake think?

So…Mr. Eliot (ownership/management) couldn’t find a single qualified black woman to hire as general manager? It had to be a Latina…while the majority of the strippers/working women are black? I’m all for equal opportunity, but come on.

I got a few titles ideas:
    *Hoes heels and hip hop
    *Guess my baby daddy
    *As the pole turns

I ain’t knocking they hustle but when your kid come home crying cause they find out where mommy really “works” I hope they can explain

It isn’t a black issue really. Its an entertainment issue. All of this ratchet behavior on reality shows started with Flavor of Love. Ever since then it has been a fight to become the most outspoken person on any reality show. New Jersey Shore, Kendra on Top, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, Real Housewives of New York and Orange County, Bad Girls Club, etc.. all have represented tasteless entertainment from non-black women. It is about ratings. We need to stop making everything about race. Within the black culture there are people representing all economic classes and walks of life. The same is with other cultures. We have shows that depicts all facets of our lives as blacks, Mary Mary, Tia and Tamera, The Braxtons, The Game, Girlfriends was great, and now Scandal. This list goes on! We are people and some of us are ratchet. If white people aren’t afraid to put shows on the air as bad as Redneck Roadtrip why are we complaining? Being a black person doesn’t have to be a political fight. We are all not the same and yes some of our people are ratchet. Everyone seems to know this but us. We are only fooling ourselves if this is our thought process. I have never heard a white person say they were embarrassed by the behavior of some classless white person on television. Why? Because they don’t identify themselves with the behavior of everyone else. It is ignorant to do this and I refuse to spend my life defining myself by the vivid imaginations of others. I would rather spend my time being me. As black people we need to stop looking for stuff to complain about and fight about and just live. If it is warranted then yes but please lets start picking our battles wisely. I am tired of all of the stress of being black that is induced by black people alone. We have enough stress to deal with than to be looking for anything extra!

      THIS!!! High Five!

  • Itsnotalwaysaracething

Seriously…we’re making this a race thing too??? really?? And we wonder why black people have suffered while other races have thrived. They fight real battles and leave all this petty nonsense by the wayside.

Why not? There are shows profiling women who aren’t wives…

Why not make a realiity show about productive black women with real jobs, thats making real money without being married to a rapper or some dude who plays sports??? This is getting ridiculous once again the media is profiting off of black people and our shortcomings. I wanna see reality shows where the black women have everyday high profile jobs like lawyers, social workers or teachers etc.

There wiill never be a show like that because america is not interested in success stories.americans want to see people make a fool of themselves or people living lives that they will never have . So instead of changi g reality shows, if we change the people the shows will change by default

I can smell the ratchetness already, it’s named “Make it Rain” for goodness sake. If it comes on HBO or Showtime, not a lot of people get those channels like VH1 so hopefully people won’t watch it.

    In
all honesty, lets be real the petition is useless and will not have any affect.
WHy? Because people are not fighting like they were on BBW and no one is being
bullied. Honestly if you don’t like it just turn the channel. While, I don’t
agree w/ the behavior of some of the people on the show, the fact is stuff like
that happens. Yes, the show was a little ‘extra’ because I do believe it was
exaggerated, however they only showed a guy possibly cheating on his long term
girlfriend so what is actually so BAD that the petition was started?

    I
think that you people who are ‘holier than thou’ should have started petition
years ago, and if you don’t like it just turn the channel. Really, the petition
is just increasing ratings because now people are going to watch just to see
what the show is actually all about.

    Why
not a petition for L& HH NY…They were rowdy and wanted to fight…While, I
did agree with the BBW petition because it seems to have promoted bullying more
than anything, I do not support this because I don’t see the rationale behind
    it.

I’ll say it again, suddenly shows that are degrading to black folks are all over the place , small percentage but widely viewed perception of black folks that spouts absolute ignorance to the world on TV, Where do they find these people,I know the people that control these shows don’t socialize or work with them , do we have a bunch ofTom-Toms that recruite them[as Shauie did for BW] as the so-called rappers do to reach a broader audience with their Tomfoolery.I refused to be suckered into this nonsense that’s portrays my folks with so much negativity after all of those before me and now suffered to overcome the degradation and etc..We need to wake up and stop supporting this type of garbage !!

    • Mrsadkiah

Lol I agree with everything except Shaunie isn’t a “Tom-Tom”. She’s a drama-filled hoodrat like the rest of the BBW she just puts on a better face.

I rolled my eyes so hard at your post I now think I may be blind. Worry about black on black crime…that’s a REAL issue. Worry about the rates of HIV and teen pregnancy-again REAL issues. If we keep making issues about tv shows that people CHOOSE to be a part of…please use that as your answer for why we as a people are not taken seriously. Don’t support it fool…don’t watch…that simple.

It won’t last…just like when those Video girls tried to get a show…the life of a stripper cannot possibly be interesting enough to go past one season…if people wanna see what goes on in a strip club, they can visit one…all the way live!

Next show: Race to a Job. It’s gonna be about these public assistant recipients looking for jobs in the midst of arguing with their 6 baby daddy’s, bailing their cousin Dookie out of jail every other week, and of course going to Big Mama’s house every Sunday for her roasted pork. It’ll be an EO show too, it’ll have a wigga white girl and sassy latina that have babies with Black men. It’s gonna be a classic.

    • Native_Noir

      Bwahahahahaha. CLASSIC!!!!!!

WHY must it always be our people? I believe in variety programming and giving the people what they want but at some point we have to recognize that life-imitating art-imitating life is not doing us any good. Our culture and lifestyles are just a joke. Is it that no one wants to watch positive programs about Blacks. What does that say about you?
