Yaya DaCosta

Hands down, Yaya was probably in my top three favorite “Top Model” contestants ever. Another Harlem-born chick, DaCosta was extremely smart and highly opinionated about everything. I loved her big hair and the fact that she and Eva Pigford were killing and made it to the final two spots in Cycle 3. I would have loved to see DaCosta be the champ of that season, but alas, Pigford was still an awesome choice. Since then, you probably know she’s been doing more acting than modeling, and has showed up on everything from “All My Children” to the movie Tron: Legacy, as well as The Kids are All Right and in the music video “Good Man” by Raphael Saadiq. Because of all this shine, it has actually resulted in more mainstream magazine covers and press for DaCosta, including popping up in Vogue, L’Officiel and W. WORK!

    danielle was of course the best but I really did camille too. I love how she never let anything get her down. and, lets not forget Nic. She was so quiet but the judges never forgot about her. I wish they had Natasha on here from Cycle 8 the one that should have really won over Jaslene!

    Lisa Jackson from Cycle 9 was my absolute favorite. During her season, Lisa made it to 5th or 6th place. She is now a very successful runway and print model. Go Lisa!

    I just want to point that I’ve never seen Yaya Dacosta in L’oreal ads in French magazines (we rarely, if not never, see Beyonce l’Oreal ads in French magazines). L’oreal is one of the brands which really divide their markets into geographical areas.
