Brown Sugar at the BET Awards: D’Angelo’s Giving His First TV Performance in 12 Years

Something tells me BET will have a big surge in female viewership for it’s 2012 Award show next month thanks to a special guest. The network has just announced that none other than Mr. “Brown Sugar/” “How Does It Feel” himself will be performing during the awards ceremony in July, making it his first televised performance in 12 years. Can we say way too long?

“Usually, we love to keep surprises…but this year we want everyone watching when D’Angelo takes the stage at the BET Awards!,” Stephen G. Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials said in a news release. “His talents have been away from us for far too long and we’re excited and honored that he’s decided to make his American re-entry at this year’s BET Awards.”

The ladies are no doubt excited too. It seemed like D’Angelo had forgotten about his American fans, making his big comeback overseas late last year, but now we’ll have a chance to see him semi- up close and personal, which hopefully will lead to a tour here in the states. What’s even better than this news is the fact that there’s only a short while until the show. The BET Awards airs July 1 at 8 pm. Let the countdown begin (10 days)

        Gurl ain’t that it!! I remember when they had The Fugees! As SOON as I heard Lauryn’s voice, I hollered!! I hope he opens up the show so I don’t have to watch the rest! They gone play it 99 times before the end of the week anyway!

      I NEVER watch, but this year I will watch the entire show if I get to see D’angelo perform!
