This Should Be Good: Mimi Faust Speaks on Relationship with Stevie J and Why Mona Scott-Young is a Genius

That last part of that headline is a statement you don’t hear everyday. Since “Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta’s” Monday night premiere, Joselin, Mimi, and Stevie J’s relationship triangle has been the hot topic of discussion. Yesterday, Joselin revealed more than we needed to know about her, but now Mimi is clearing the air a bit on just how unfaithful Stevie J has been throughout their relationship and how long she’s really known about his cheating ways.

In an interview with The Jasmine Brand, Mimi was asked all the things we’ve been wondering. Here are the highlights:

On how long she and Stevie have been together

“We have known each other for 15 years, we have had a born again, off again relationship and I really wanted to clear that up… When Stevie was in other relationships, we absolutely were not together.”

Were they were together while he dated Eve

“Absolutely not. When he was dealing with Alex [Martin, Whoopi Goldberg's daughter] we were not together. When he was in any other relationship, we were not together.”

When she found out about Joseline and Stevie’s rumored second girlfriend

“When I’m at home with my daughter, I don’t know what Stevie’s doing when he leaves the house. Stevie will say I’m going to the studio. I’m not going to the studio to check on Stevie, I’m at home with my daughter. So I had no idea who Joseline was, I had no idea she was his artist, I had no idea they were even working together… What everybody else was seeing, I wasn’t privy to. All I knew is he was going to work, and I’m at home with my daughter.

“The first time I knew she existed was about two weeks before we started the show. It was all brand new to me, this was the first time I found out about her, her name, and all of that… I was living through it as we were taping.”

Whether she’s concerned about the example she’s setting for her daughter

“I’m absolutely concerned about it, I’ve said it over and over again. You guys can see it in episodes coming up that’s definitely a concern of mine. The message that I will be sending to her, especially because she’s a little girl and she will grow up to be a woman, and I don’t want to send the wrong message to her or I don’t want her to think that what he’s doing is right and that’s the way a man should treat a woman. I’m absolutely concerned about this whole thing.”

How she feels about criticism against the show’s producer, Mona Scott-Young

“Actually, Mona is a genius. Because this was not scripted and she picked people; and during the course, she never knew that any of this would have transpired. Ever. None of the producers did. They were like, ‘we couldn’t have made this stuff up if someone paid a million dollars,’ so all Mona did was have the cameras shoot, and what transpired, transpired. It just happened to be a ridiculous, way-out-there situation, and that’s just what it was. This is a real life situation, so I can’t fault Mona or VH1 or whoever. It wasn’t their fault that what was going on with us was so off the wall. That’s really what it was. They were just capturing the moment.”

The Jasmine Brand also asked Mimi whether Joseline is really a man and she replied that she’s absolutely a woman and was pregnant at some point, which there’s a bit of foreshadowing of at the end of the preview for next week’s episode below. Unfortunately, Mimi wasn’t asked whether she was leaving Stevie but if she hasn’t in 15 years, we probably already know that answer.

Some of you guys are calling this woman stupid for staying with him, but I think she is detached from him emotionally. This is the part of the show I think is fake. She tweeted Joseline, “let’s make this money”, so obviously they’re in cahoots. She’s a lot smarter than we think.

  • b from NY

She got more excuses then somebody going to jail!

  • shay

I really believe as the show goes on she will drop Stevie J. I think she genuinely didn’t Kno about Joseline. The show is quite trifling but it had my attention. I may tune in on Monday just to c the fawkery!!

  • MommaBear

Beyond Sad! This show had my mouth wide open!
Mimi needs help! She is ok with her baby father screwing a stripper & with no condom. Smdh!

  • Sharri

Who are these no name hoes?

  • ijs

Such a pretty girl, such low self esteem. She knew but didn’t want to know. How could you not? No one is that dense.

  • ms lady

I don’t think they are really in a relationship she is his baby momma who isn’t going anywhere. I think they are friends with benefits. He clearly said I brought a house you and my daughter if they are in a relationship he would say im out her doing this for us the house is for us etc. S

  • awet

Along with her self-respect, is she not concerned for her health? Scripted or not, I would hope that the participants of that love triangle were using protection. Judging by the previews alluding that Joseline was pregnant and Mimi’s confirmation, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

  • Veratta Pegram-Floyd

If she (and they) like it, I love it for them.

I’d rather watch this the rest of this so-called reality TV. Mind you, I personally don’t condone the situation between Mimi, Stevie & Joselin (that heffa looks like a he-she). To be honest though yea we are making ourselves look stupid but oh well that’s what ppl do. I personally like the show. Its entertainment

  • StephLuv

Please stop exploiting these women like this Mona. Your the educated one. You have the experience in the industry dealing with rappers and their careers and loved ones. You should be the responsible one who does not put these talentless people on this platform to just expose their ratchet behaviors. This chick called you genius for this. Ohhh, what people do for a check!

    • TheInfamous

First I want to make it clear that I do not condone the action of these women on these “reality” shows. But, it is not totally Mona’s fault. A person can only do to you what you allow them to do to you. They’re allowing Mona to pimp them so they need to shoulder some of the blame.

  • bluekissess

She knows that he’s cheating but she’s still with him. I never understood why women do that. No matter how intelligent she sounds she’s still a fool being with this clown

  • Coco J

This show sure is getting A LOT of press and only one episode has aired…I dont really think they care how they come across…the more face time, press, & attention (good or bad) they get, the better…b/c at the end of the day, they’re probably just trying to “get on” & get paid like all these other reality chicks…its really that simple…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=8210721 Joy Kamille

Lies. There is no way this is un-scripted. The whole Stevie J love triangle is so pathetic. Nothing you can say no matter how gutter you want to make it sound is going to make this look real.

  • Baddvixentype

she almost seens happy about how they are coming off across tv. its filled with “oh helllll no!” & “I know she aint gon let him get away with that!” but for it “not to be scripted” just makes it all the more sad because shes coming off like she cant do any better. One day her lil girl will see this show…then what will you tell her?

  • Smacks_hoes

Please…this show is as fake as a 3 dollar bill. She needs to pick up her self respect and her self esteem and leave this man. She looks pathetic on national television and I don’t have any sympathy for her.
