Nobody can tell me that our First Lady, Michelle Obama, isn’t made up of all things awesome. I just…I just want to be like her when I grow up. Refined, accomplished, cool under pressure and able to double dutch. She is just too much. In an appearance on “Live with Kelly,” the first lady was there to promote her new gardening book. But she upped the ante by surprising the kids from Cary YMCA SuperSkippers jump rope team by jumping double dutch as they twirled. The episode was taped in late May but it aired yesterday morning.

Check out the footage below and see just another reason why the first lady rocks!

Wait what???? Ummmm whatever Mrs. Obama is classy and great and I love that she is not afraid to be out there. Keep going FLOTUS we love you!

I love FLOTUS. But, I’m getting tired of seeing her everywhere and saying random things. You can be down to earth but keep in mind you are the First Lady. Keep the position classy and sophisticated. Stop your obsession with certain celebrities, better to keep it to yourself

Every down to earth black woman learned to Double Dutch while growing up. Show em’ Shelly!

    • Just saying!!

Nope…I was always the swinger–but point taken. We all were involved in it somehow lol (I can do a little something something but it’s been a while!!)

Ain’t no fun in just being a rope handler, but it was an important job, though; people who couldn’t turn were annoying. I encourage you to keep going; it should be much easier these days, no rope knots to hit you in the head.

This “down to earth black woman learned to Double Dutch while growing up.” It was a rite of passage (that and learning how to braid hair on the stoop) in 1970s Wash., DC. I couldn’t WAIT to hone my skills and be One with the action. I loved it!
