You Need More People: Shaunie Says She Was ‘Blindsided’ By Basketball Wives Cuts

After “Basketball Wives” creator and executive producer Shaunie O’ Neal announced that she wouldn’t return to “Basketball Wives” for Season 5 unless three castmembers were cut, Kesha Nichols, Royce Reed, and Jennifer Williams all received pink slips. Now all of a sudden Shaunie is saying she was totally “blindsided” by the cut.

TMZ reports:

“Basketball Wives” star Shaunie O’Neal says it’s not her fault three cast members were axed … telling people she learned the news when everyone else did …

But Shaunie is telling friends, despite the accusations, the cuts were NOT made by her. Sources close to Shaunie tell TMZ she was blindsided by the news. Shaunie says the production company leaves her in the dark about everything after she butted heads with them over the violent direction the show was headed (i.e on-air brawls and cat-fights).

According to our sources, Shaunie is upset over the current situation and wants Shed Media (the production company) to know she is willing to walk away from the series if it becomes something she no longer believes in.

So, Shaunie expects us to believe that she had nothing to do with the cuts? Is Shaunie redefining the word “blindsided” to mean “not blindsided at all” the way her show has redefined “wife” to mean “not married to anyone”? Maybe Shaunie is saying that she was blindsided by who got cut — especially since many thought it would be Tami and Evelyn. Still, it is hard to believe that she isn’t exerting control over who is in and who is out.

Further, her threats about walking away from the show if it becomes something she no longer believes in doesn’t make sense. What could possibly happen now that would make her walk away considering she has stayed put despite what happened last season?

Shaunie trying to distance herself from the problems on that show is ridiculous considering she is the creator and executive producer. But I guess the reality show star’s finger pointing isn’t surprising considering she has already said: “I won’t take responsibility for what [the show] has turned into.” Clearly, she will place the responsibility on any and everyone else instead. Shaunie is hard to believe though because, like with this most recent backpedaling, it is evident she is all about the drama both on-screen and off.

    When I think of all the children that are being bullied in school and some of them even ending their lives wanting it t be over,and to watch these so called adult women bulling these woman on national television,I felt such dred for the children of the world,and for Tami to say that she should not have drank that was the reason she bullied Kesha when in fact she did not like her from the start,I seen that and was ashame for Tami if you ask me Tami has always been a bully and as for evelyn I just don’t know what to say I truly believe she was jealouse of Jennifer that she was acting her age and not living in drama unlike Evelyn, and becuse of that she bullied her ever chance she got its funny how the very women that was not causing DRAMA are the one who got fired,well I’m sorry but basketball ex wives your FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    Use to have much respect for Shaunie despite the direction the show took in season 3, because of how she carried herself. Season 4, I guess she got too use to the camera and forgot to pretend as much and the real her emerged. I really wish they would stop talking about the direction of the show and learn how to act while a camera is glue to their hips. I don’t think she has any say of what goes on with the show. If she did Royce would have been gone long ago. If she walks away, who would really stop watching? She has no significant role other than being Shaunie O’neal. Once Gloria left the show any significance of her being A PART of the show also left. As far as the pink slips, Royce and Kesha were done a favor. Jen just got shown what her place on the show was. She was Evelyn’s puppet for three seasons, and once she tried a role reversal they didn’t need her anymore. Once she left the connect the dots, cause a circle is unbreakable her role on the show did become shallow. Insulting Detroit, and the South, and “doing what the white people do”, and all of her good friends in high places that we can’t see because they’re not on the show, along with her boring overdone lipgloss launch/project. I wish her nothing but “come ack down to real reality”. As for Shaunie walking away at the conclusion of a record breaking embarrssing Season 5 I guess we’ll just have to see…

    YKW, Shaunie is opportunistic liar. She has made her feeling known regarding Jennifer, Ross and Keesha from the beginning. I hate a liar! She has never once said anything against Evelyn and Tammy acting like street monkies. But, she gets upset because Jennifer filed a police report for someone striking her. If Shaunie wanted to put an end to what Ev and Tam were doing she could have at any time. Ppl have the right to express there opinion, U don’t have the right to strike anyone. What universe do these animals live in.

    With the laws being what they r in Florida. Jenn could have shot all of them at any time and been in her right. Who r u to tell anyone to just take it and walk away!!!???!!! Tammy ahs aqcted like a fool from the day she started doing Reality TV. FIGHTING and CURSING! Please.

    Tammy & evelyn . . . Friends?!? Their just afraid of one another. This is the example u make now that ur making money and can do something positive for the younger generation? DISGUSTING! And shame on Shaunie, the audacity to even defend Tammy and Evelyn “These ladies (please, jungle cats) are not bullies, they’re mothers”. Did they think about their children when they were in the street brawling? Then all of a sudden, Tammy’s doing therapy (joke) and Shaunie’s seeing her pastor (bigger joke). I hate that we are being betryed as a race in this manner. At least ATL Housewives did sometyhin’ other than JUST fight never brawl! OMG, these FEMALES (and I used the term for lack of better word need to get some help!

    Shaunie is a loser.I guess those three ladies are learning to have respect for themselves, so they are no longer good enough for her show. Well that’s good, those other fools need to stay because they are all bullies and that is all the show is about bullying and ignorance. I guess the truth hurts and some people cant handle the truth. Maya Angelou says, ” When people show you who they are believe them the first time.” That show needs to be cut off the air.

    This woman is a damn lie ! Her and Mona Scott Young are pimps in skirts. Shaunie and VH1 made no efforts to hide the obvious conflict of interest by having Shaunie as a cast member and Executive Producer. Mona seems to come off as a puppet master and has no genuine interest in what she puts out to community unless it has to do with “checks” as her protege claims ..

    Shaq finally woke up and ran from this lying,conniving deceitful female who was still tying to rob him even after getting millions in their divorce settlement so what do expect from Shauie who would’t know the truth if it slapped her in the face.If she hadn’t proven herself to be so unlikeable on her own show that SHE had control over I might feel sorry for her.It can’t be easy seeing how happy her ex is with a pretty young girlfriend while she has boy toys that use her money to woo other young women.Talking about Hot-Mess she wears the crown.

    I am tired of Shaunie O’Neal lying about what happened on the show this season. She knew that the ladies were getting fired. I hope Jennifer adds Shaunie and VH1 to the lawsuit along with Evelyn Lozada for defamation of character. Shaunie,Evelyn and Tami has not admitted they are the blame for this mess and I felt Tami should have been fired from day 1. I hope this show goes off the air. And as for Evelyn Lozada I really hope that they cancel her show. And Nia Crooks should have the Tv there when she goes to court and tell the judge that Jen asked for the slap. So that the whole world can see what a dumb fool she really is.

    Every season someone is getting cut and people being recasted, I see Basketball wives ending is the near future, too many lies and too much pettiness going on off and on the show.

    Shaunie is the Executive Producer of Basketball Wives so she is fully aware of EVERYTHING involving her show. I have stopped watching it, I didnt watch the entire pass season the show has gotten more n more Ghetto every season.
