So Jen and Ev Reunited at The Reunion, Was It Real?

Yup, I watched it. Just long enough for Shaunie and Tami to get on my last nerve and to see the reunion no one expected to happen on what was actually the “Basketball Wives” season 4 reunion special: Evelyn and Jen made up—so it seems. Who knew a lie detector test could bring two past BFFs back together within a few hours, right?

I have to say the moment was touching and I don’t doubt it’s authenticity. We’ve seen Evelyn cry at the drop of a hat during the last few episodes of the series, and let’s be honest, it takes a lot of effort to stay mad at someone and carry around the degree of anger she’s been demonstrating on the show. Even until the end, Ev still tried to play tough saying she doesn’t miss her friendship with Jennifer. The polygraph John Salley had both ladies take blew the lid right off that lie and Jen was honest about hers and said that she missed her best friend of 10 years. When the women embraced I can only imagine the type of release they felt, letting their guards down, shedding tears for the ignorance that surpassed in a matter of 10 weeks, and likely remembering better times. I won’t say that John Salley’s move of bringing the girls center-stage to hold hands and hug like parents do with little kids wasn’t scripted—along with Shaunie’s penny worth of thoughts on why they needed to make up—but I do believe both women genuinely love and miss each other and still want to be friends, the question is, can they make it happen?

The entire time I watched Evelyn badmouth Jen this season I kept thinking of one of my college roommates. She had two or three best friends that were always in heavy rotation. One minute they were all cool, the next only two of them were speaking, sometimes they all fell out with each other, and every time that happened she would tell all of their business—like deep, dark dirty secrets you wouldn’t want anyone to know. She would call them b****es and h*es and all kinds of other foolishness, only to be back cool again months or maybe as long as a year later. But all I could think was if my best friend and I ever fell out, there were just some things I would never say or tell about her out of respect for her, our friendship, and the extremely likely possibility of whatever argument we were in likely not being the true end of our friendship. Evelyn didn’t do that, not even a little bit. And so as Jen, it would be very hard for me to allow Evelyn to regain my trust, especially when the cameras start rolling again for the next season of the show.

The reunion between Jen and Evelyn happened at a perfect time. Evelyn appears to be going through some sort of transformation, completely brought on by the threat of unemployment nonetheless, so I’m not totally shocked she let her guard down and seems to want to let bygones be bygones, but that’s easy to do when you’re the one in the wrong. I think Jen should be just as cautious letting Evelyn back into her life as she was embracing her last night, and stick to her rule of not discussing anything “like this,” meaning in front of the crowd of onlookers, their so-called friends, and the cameras.

Jen may not be totally innocent in the breakdown of the friendship, but Evelyn’s got a lot of ‘splainin’ and making up to do. Jen better stay alert and make sure this wasn’t a damage control ploy or even just an attempt to get Nia’s lawsuit dropped, but a genuine effort to rebuild their relationship. What do you think?

    I think that was the main reason Evelyn was upset and so angry because she misses Jennifer and is channeling that into anger. That is why she cried after every confrontation with her when Jen would walk away. Evelyn is not as hard as she puts on to be and that moment when they hugged and she reached for Jen first clearly showed that.

    I hope they leave the drama behind because its hard finding true FRIENDS. I lost a friend over a year ago. She was my family of 16 years. It ended all over a LIE from her so called ex-boyfriend which is a distant family member. I miss our friendship dearly. There has been times I want to pick up the phone to call but MY PRIDE always get in the way. She has asked a family member about me and want to talk but we are both letting our PRIDE hold us up on mending this friendship. Need less to say the so called ex is no longer in her life or my family lives. We took him in and he turned on everybody. NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!!!!

    AND, as for that trashy hood-rat tammy: she is nothing more than a pathetic piece of shee-at! keep acting like a rabid dog and attacking those who not only disagree w/u but are also half ur size, meek, n harmless- CUZ u know damn well u have the advantage. u rage at others to facillitate the facade that u are a strong blk woman but ur really jus an opportunistic bully w/no class, no dignity, and NO chance of raising two daughters to be healthy, happy, well-adjusted human beings. i’m quite sure those 2 poor girls will end up crack hoes if continued 2b raised by you. AND KESHA- keep ur head up girl u handled urself with class, the way adults in a society should. jus try n stay as far away from those low-life bee’s as u can!

    and ev’s fake tears were also right on que when she pretended to have such a big heart for those less fortunate than her in the $ dept but back when her n jen were friends she acted just as boojie if not more, like making snide comments about other women just bcuz their “cheap” purses weren’t 1000$ designer bags. yeah, ev is soo in tune w/the workn class her shoe store sold nothing but 500+ shoes! well, sorry ev! not everyone can afford louis v red bottoms, coach bags, or prada dresses like you! if u were really so sympathetic towards the workn class u wudda had known that.

    OMG! ev is such a fake azz bee-otch! really, now she cries? perhaps her fake tears were rollin’ so hard tonight cuz she’d seen da whole season on t.v. n realized what a bee-otch everyone now knows she is! her true colors were shown n now its all about damage control, she has her “getn married” spin-off to consider. all ev is about is herself n $. during her fight w/ jen she claimed 2b “ride or die” n non-judgemental- what a load of crap! if she were such a loyal n true friend she wud of neva spewed such fowl n hateful/violent tiraids at jen, especially on camera. just bcuz ur fuedin’ w/a friend of 10+ years doesn’t mean it’s ok to reveal their deepest darkest secrets! if she was really tryn make-up w/jen on da island why wud she verbally attack her n reveal her sexual encounter in vegas was condomless? no loyalty, no class! that had nuthin’ 2do w/ resolving their differences, it was a just a low-blow.
