Oh Lord! Pastor Creflo Dollar Arrested For Alleged Assault on Daughter

June 8th, 2012 - By Clarke Gail Baines

If you’ve ever been awake really early on a Sunday morning, chances are you probably know who Pastor Creflo Dollar is. If you don’t, you should know that he’s the founder and pastor of World Changers Church International in Georgia, and depending on who you ask, he’s got an interesting reputation. He definitely gives a great word, but controversy has surrounded him for a while as people criticize him for living a bit too lavish and not allowing his church to be “financially transparent.” And there’s something about a pastor with the last name Dollar who owns a couple Rolls-Royces and a private jet that just rubs folks the wrong way, right? But now he’s got a bigger issue to deal with, as the 50-year-old was arrested this morning for allegedly attacking his 15-year-old daughter.

Dollar was arrested at his home in Fayetteville, Ga. and was charged with simple battery and cruelty to children according to WXIA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Atlanta. According to the report, their scuffle was over whether or not the young lady could attend a party. Somehow things spiraled out of control from a conversation to a full blown fight, because the report goes on to say that Dollar wound up choking her, threw her to the ground, punched her, and if that wasn’t enough, hit her with a shoe (With a shoe too??? Geez…). When police arrived, the young lady was said to have a scratch on her neck that was given during the altercation.

In defense of himself, Dollar admitted that he did “restrain” his daughter when she became very disrespectful to him, and in the process he spanked (yes, spanked) her and wrestled her to the floor after SHE hit HIM. But that was it. No punching or shoe beating. In the end, Dollar ended up going to magistrate court and posted bond this morning. We’ll have to wait and see where these charges might take him as time passes, but boy oh boy did he get caught up in some mess.

This is a pretty sad situation I must admit, and when you’re somewhat of a popular public figure who is known for having a somewhat suspect reputation for different reasons, this type of thing doesn’t help. If all that talk of the young woman being hit with a shoe and choked is true, then this man’s got some issues, but if this was just a tussle that went left and was exaggerated, it wouldn’t be the first time a parent got into a messy altercation with their child, so alas, you can’t be that hard on him. Maybe the tussles didn’t end up like this, but you get what I’m saying. Either way, I’m sure there will be some new and nosey faces in church this Sunday…

How will it affect Dollar’s reputation? What were your thoughts on him before?

Wait, wait, wait, The man’s name is Creeflo Dollar?

  • AParent

Not that I condon choking a child but some of these teenagers are so disrespectful with so much mouth and they feel that they can do what they want to do and say what they want to say and the parent is suppose to go along with it and do nothing about it. I have raised 3 teenage daughters and I can tell you it was NOT easy. When they become teenagers they become all together different from when they were children, with different emotions, hormones and dispositions. There are 2 sides to every story: his side, her side and the truth. I was not there but I don’t believe that he would just done it out of the blue. Some teenagers will make want to go there.

That’s his role as a parent sometimes you need to discipline your child with a little spanking, they only say its wrong because he is a pastor but if he was just a regular parent with out the role of a pastor than he wouldn’t even be going through any of this. SMH To all the critics. Don’t judge because none of us really know. I don’t even know this man but I know right from wrong and this is wrong.

  • kendra

    Did your mother choke you?

    • hulahoop

he said he didn’t choke or punch his daughter so what is your point exactly? take the word of a parent over an out of control and disrespectful 15 yr old who was selfish enough to call the cops on her father when he actually stated SHE attacked him and he was trying to restrain her?

I think the reason why children grow up and kill other people and get on drugs is because we don’t put our foot down.. we got our butts beat and we are just fine… Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou Beatest him with the
rod, he shall not die. Prov 23:14… we should be praying instead of judging Pastor.

For this mans wife to call the police something seriously went wrong here. Choking and punching your daughter is a little extreme. Even if she did get disrespectful this should have not been the outcome. I am sure this man will have his dirty laundry clean befor the next article. I am also sure he cannot go into church with the sermon “You should Choke and Punch Your Child when you lose control”

daughter called the police at 2am – check atl news

  • RedButterfly81

Well, if he said no to her going to a party then she should have listened to him. I don’t condone violence but kudos to him that he didn’t want his daughter go to a party where people there might smoke weed, have sex, underage drinking, etc. Sad we have the government telling us how to raise our own kids with this “spankings are abuse” ish!

  • Parent

I hope his daughters realize how their have embarrassed their family. I think the media could have kept this off of the air. But if the 19year old co-signed then both of them should get their own apartment.

    • kaydenpat

I hope Cash Flow Dollar knows how much he has embarrased himself by his abusive conduct. Hopefully, he’ll learn how to be a better parent who doesn’t have to resort to violence to control his children.
Kudos to the daughter for calling the police on this abusive fraud.

  • FromUR2UB

All she had was a scratch on her neck after being choked, body slammed, punched, and then hit with a shoe?? Tough girl. She must have been throwin’ down. That mug shot looked like she may have caught him in the mouth with a left jab. Anyway, I can understand why a 15 -year-old was not given permission to go to a party. She knew there would be boys there.

    • hulahoop

Exactly. Sounds pretty unbelievable to only have a little scratch on the neck after all that. And he was arrested for ‘simple battery’ whatever that is. Sounds like the cops were really trying to trump up charges.

  • Negress

OK, Cref went Madea on her. They are in Georgia…and now we know the devil couldn’t get him
through sex , lying, cheating, stealing, but by “beating” . So, he came through the child. I was always taught if the devil can’t get you he’ll come for what’s nearest your heart. I couldn’t see Taff letting him beat her baby anyway.

  • Nehemiah53

Him driving a Rolls Royce have nothing to do with him being a responsible father
    and disciplining his unruly daughter.

  • aghatise

This is one reason why African culture remains the best in the world. A child must always obey his/her parents. it is not wrong for a man to beat his daughter here in Africa and that is why we are well trained.

  • The teacher

Sounds like she was being parented and decide to be defiant. That is the problem of our children today. I doubt he choked her. They probably tussled and lost in the tussle from being restrained. No means no when your father says NO! Thats why teachers have such a hard time in the classroom because this generation of children feel intitled.

    • kaydenpat

I’m looking forward to the trial. Can’t stand Mr. Dollar so hope this brings him down a little from his ivory perch. What is Taffi saying about this? Where was she when her husband was beating down her daughter?

  • Parent

I don’t know why him being a preacher has to do with him raising his children. I think he should have slap the taste out of her mouth. Why should we argue about who has the authority. The parent does and if she doesn’t want to obey rules then she should find a place to live then she can do what she wants. If she went to the party and had sex or used drugs then the public would talk about his parenting skills and how he was a bad father. If my kids would raise a hand to me I would choke slap whatever it takes because then they think that I am a kid or they are as grown as me so let’s see who is going down. As a parent and grandparent stop thinking these smart mouth kids are the victims. She probably has been talking smart for awhile and he gave her too many passes. I say good for him.

  • sw

Creflo i personally don’t know you, and i hope what they are saying isn’t true about choking & punching. I have watched your TV program for years and i believe in my heart you are a true man of God! I just truely can’t see you doing something so horrible or Taffy even tolerating something like that. Just like i didn’t believe that Michael Jackson would molest a child, I also don’t believe that these horrible things are true about you! Stay strong, God Bless You & Your Family!

  • unque43

That what they need because back in the day when your parents said no that was it end of discussion. Now its assault. That’s why we have so disrespect in our village. Teen age pregnancy. teen age crime of every sort. Its only going to get worst because the kids will become adults in turn have kids and be parents of no boundaries for their kids. Kids today have no respect for themselves or their parents. I hope he didn’t go overboard you got to be able to hold your temper when talking with kids. Somewhere the line of communication was broke that she felt she could challenge her dad when he said no party.

  • vbaby

How do you spank a 15 yr old you ask? Easy …. he just showed you. Good for you Dr. Dollar!

  • Just saying!!

Wth is wrong with you people in the comments section?? This was NOT a regular beating. My parents never had to punch or CHOKE me to teach me a lesson. That’s taking it too damn far….period.

    • kaydenpat

The people supporting Cash Flow Dollar are disgusting. Glad that he was arrested. If you abuse your children, you will go to jail, folks. It’s as simple as that.

Madame Noire, what a way to your digs in at the pastor. His calling and church are not the issue, that should be a separate article. Any parent with teenagers has been at this point are close to it and these kids know to call protective services. Most parents from my generation need to be charged with battery. We would get our a%% beat down if my mother thought she was being disrespected, and don’t argue about going somewhere after you’ve been told “no”.

    • Gimmeabreak78

Have your parents ever punched you or choked you? If so, that’s not discipline, that’s abuse.

  • MzCali

You know what’s funny is how many people condone beating their child but want to boycott BBW. Where do you think those women learned that behavior from. Ummmm their parents teaching them it’s okay to physically assault someone when they do something you don’t like. If you have to hit a child in order to correct their behavior than you need to reevaluate what it means to be a parent. Children don’t just pop out the womb back talking their parents. It’s amazing no one has asked where she picked up that behavior. I’m only saying this because as a sociology major I did a paper on physically disciplining and learned a lot, for instance a study was done by Dr. Meade. He laid out two scenarios 1.) a boy breaks one cup and hides it from his mother. 2.) a boy breaks 15 cups but tells his mother the truth about what happened. He asked the children of his study group which was bad and almost all the children picked the boy that broke 15 cups even though the boy that broke one cup was in the wrong for being deceitful because young kids cant differentiate from right and wrong well into later in there teens. You’re setting up kids for failure. Let’s be honest, I was beat as a child and many other people I know. I still did a lot of mischievous things but just made sure I didn’t get caught. Just be more aware of the messages you’re sending children that’s it.

    • guest

      do you have kids?

    • kaydenpat

      Amen, MzCali. Preach!!

    • FromUR2UB

Rebellion is not uncommon for teenagers, especially teenaged girls. That’s not necessarily a reflection on their parents. The kids I used to know who never rebelled, were the ones who never had to. They had plenty of freedom to come and go as they pleased, because no one cared what they were doing.
