Of course to most ladies, the skin on their face is a priority because it is exposed the most, but let’s not forget about our bodies- from scalp to toe. We all dream of having perfect, acne free, even skin toned bodies that we see all the celebrities have in the magazines!

Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy:

  • Use a moisturizing body wash. It doesn’t matter whether it is expensive or inexpensive, just make sure it is moisturizing.
  • Protect your scalp from the elements such as the sun! Wear a hat if it is really sunny to avoid too much sun exposure to your skin.
  • Moisturize your skin after you get out the shower with an oil, cream or gel. Try out the different types of moisturizers to see which one lasts all day on your skin.
  • Working out keeps your skin toned, so don’t forget to exercise to keep your skin tight.
  • It’s the summertime so I know you want to rock your sun dresses. If you have backne (back-acne) DON’T pick them.  Use a body wash with Salicylic acid that will make those pimples disappear.
  • Wear sunscreen!! Black women can and do get sunburn!
  •  Make sure when you shave to use a clean razor. Don’t use any products with alcohol in them after shaving or your skin can burn.
  • Exfoliate your skin with a sugar scrub- your own or store bought- to promote radiant skin.

As always, consult a Dermatologist if you have any skin issues that persist.

What are some of your skin tips for your body?

Make sure your men keep their skin moisturized too!

The lady’s skin in the photo is so rich, glowing and looks healthy. I exfoliate a lot with cocoa butter scrub, which does wonder. I’m still trying to find that perfect moisturizer with sunscreen for oily skin.

  • Negress

I usually get a tan with at least a tube top on and that kills backne for me. I also like to use a sugar scrub for the back and shoulders. With discipline I’m using the proactive deep cleansing wash and a clarisonic. It looks better but a tan would be just like foundation for the back.

Oh, great. Another Optimum ad. Well, the model has beautiful skin.

I use a daily facial moisturizer with spf 15 built in. Cetaphil and neutrogena moisterizers have this and their awesome. I’ve used them for years.

Exfoliation and Moisturizing are the most important and makes such a big difference…St.Ives makes great products for both..

I use obagi on my face for ache. When I tell you this stuff works wonders!!! It’s pricey but worth every single penny! I’d attest to that. My face is almost clear except for a few spots of hyperpigmentation. The things that I hate are the llittle black dots on my legs from shaving and stubborn razor bumps that make me a tad bit self conscious to wear a swim suit. Anyone have suggestions???

I HATE those dark spots most of us Black women develop on our legs from hair removal. I switched to waxing every three weeks and I exfoliate like crazy, yet I still have those little spots – I think they’re gradually getting better though :)

For razor bumps on the bikini area, i put deodorant on the area after shaving. It works! I use non scented deodorant and rub it on the area after i’m done shaving. No razor bumps

I use Vitamin E oil on my face and it works wonders. I use an exfoliating brush on my back with my regular body wash and it keeps my “backne” away.
