Good News? Tia and Pooch Are Out, But Brandy’s Still In ‘The Game’

I don’t know if this news will do much to console “The Game” fans who are still struggling to accept the fact that Tia and Pooch/Melanie and Derwin aren’t returning to the the BET show, but we do know there will be at least one familiar face on the next season, Brandy’s.

During an interview with Kempire Radio, Brandy confirmed that she will be reprising her role of Chardonnay for Season 6, though she tried to be a little mysterious about the plot line, alluding to the fact that her character and Jason are currently broken up. Since the season finale airs tomorrow they’ll probably keep that cliff hanger going and pick up with that story line next season which may not really matter for fans who have already said they won’t even bother to watch the show again once it ends Tuesday.

From the few episodes of “The Game” that I saw, I sort of liked Jason and Chardonnay’s relationship, but it was just hard for me to get past Brandy’s character’s name and some of her mannerisms. But maybe they could end up being the main story line during season 6 and take over Melanie and Derwin’s spot. Yay? Nay?

Check out the snippet of Brandy’s interview below where she talks about how she feels about Tia and Pooch leaving the show and her excitement to come back. Are you glad Brandy is returning next season or does it matter?

I like these episodes of The Game! I did get tired of
Derwin and Melanie’s “truth moments” cause they didn’t solve crap!! I LOVED
Jason and Chardonnay relationship, but I would like to know her real name, let Jason meet her parents!! So all of you talking about R.I.P The Game can stop it’s not going any where cause there are people that are out there who still enjoy it!!!

  • Lonnie

Idk Why everybody complaining as soon as it come back on they going to watch it

    • Em

      SO TRUE!

  • Ex Game fan

The show was at their best when Kelsey Grammar aka Fraiser was writing / producing the show. Should’ve kept him and Kelly Pitts. Now Melanie and Derwin, RIP The Game.

i couldnt have said it better

I’m sorry, but as much as I would like for Brandy to keep working on the show, I cannot stand her character Chardonnay. There is nothing interesting or redeeming about her character to make me sit and watch the show just because she’s still gonna be on there. And I couldn’t stand the Chardonnay/Jason relationship. Worst relationship ever on the show in my opinion. lol. I really don’t see how the show will survive without the two main characters. I mean the show had already changed so much once BET got ahold of it in the first place…now this. I find myself watching seasons 1-3 on Netflix just to remind myself why I started watching this show in the first place.

I wont be watching this fooolishness anymore. Its not the same, please just let the Game RIP. No one cares about Chardonnay. Let’s be serious, where the hell is Kelly???? and they turned Tasha into a hood rat. Its done.

    • Em

Really? Speak for yourself. I certainly care about Chardonnay. She and Jason were the only reason I watched season 5. And Kelly is gone. People need to get over it.

I love Brandy, it’s an opportunity for the writers to restore The Game to it’s place of prominence in the black community.

  • justme

Just cancel the show. Ugh! They are doing way too much.

  • Treacle234

Well, who knows maybe Tia & Pooch leaving is the best move for the show. I mean their character’s storyline this season was whack.

  • Merriegirl

Why is it good news that Brandy is staying?

Imma be the only person here who likes the show currently, and it’s sad that they’re letting go of two of the main characters. After all they went through and after all that drama to get the show back…um….wow. I stopped watching BET years ago like a year before I graduated from high school. After that, I watched off and on when old artists would appear on awards shows or when my Twitter timeline was all abuzz about something. I’m going to give the show a chance without them when it comes…but if it’s anything like Single Ladies, I’m out.

    • Jere

i love single ladies…what day is it on again?

  • JustSayin

At First? I had this thought that BET KILLED THE GAME. However; I thought about it. BET follows… rarely do they lead. They look at the trends. VH1 & MTV are all about reality shows and excess drama. Therefore when The Game returned that is exactly what they gave the people… a whole bunch of scripted over exaggerated drama. Success doesn’t sell in the industry… people crave to the mediocrity with this “materialistic” image. That is what is on television and that is what sells ads space, media time and shows. Congratulations… Ignorance was louder than Intelligence… and the media heard them loud and clear.

I’m not sure if I will. I do love me some Coby Bell aka Jason Pitts. There relationship was cute. I just need Wendy Robinson aka Tasha to throw her ghetto white flag

  • NikkitaMichelle

No one can replace Derwin and Melanie’s characters, but I do have to say I enjoyed the dynamic between Jason and Chardonnay. But can we abbreviate that name down th Char. LOL!

  • jemaelaine

I feel like most ppl who still watch the Game do so out of remembering how good it used to be before BET. SMH i cant imagine what it would be like without melanie and derwin! I stopped watching a whileeee ago because it straight up turned into some “All my children” type BS. the comedy aspect is wayyyy too scarce. Despite this, I can find some interest in it, but Melanie and Derwin leaving? thts a bit much. And theres definetly some back handed shady-ness going on behind the scenes on BET’s part because all of the characters are disapearing ONE-BY-ONE. Britt Brat, Kelly, now the main couple of the show? Come on.
They might as well let it go before this runaway train crashes.

  • Carla

I’ve been watching it since it was on CW and it sucks. I wanted Melanie to leave Derwin so he could still be on the show. I actually like the Chardonnay and Jason storyline. I used to like Tasha, but it’s like they made her even more hood than she was before.
I’ve still been watching, but before I used to make sure to watch it the day it airs, but now I just catch it On Demand whenever.

BET has been showing a marathon of all of the past seasons over the weekend. Oh how I miss the show when it was on the CW. The writing was excellent. There’s a distinct difference between BET’s version and the CW version. I heard conflicting news that Pooch would still be on the show but on a limited basis. Kind of how Jason was during BETs first season because Pooch has another gig. Did anyone else hear that?

I caught some of the CW shows also this past weekend and its a BIG difference between those shows and the ones down by BET! I just wish they would have just left it where the CW ended with Derwin & Melody’s wedding.,

I also caught the marathon with the CW shows an its a difference between those shows and the ones done by BET. BET should have just left the show alone its the practically changed everything about the show.
