It seems that many of Gabrielle Union’s movie roles tend to have a very similar recipe: beautiful, independent, successful and…mean.  In interviews, she comes across as someone with a cool personality and on Twitter, she’s really personable but since her roles fall into the same pot more often than not, it makes you wonder which parts of the roles are easiest to play since she plays them with such ease.

    this is such a stupid article. i can’t believe i wasted these few mins of my life reading this, thinking they would present some relevant info about why they feel this way. “I notice this actor gets a lot of similar roles, so I think maybe they’re like that in real life” Are you serious? Did an intern write this article? Please tell me some high schooler from Big Brothers/Big Sisters shadowed a journalist and some tragic editor thought it might be cute for them to have a writing credit entering into college someday? Please!

    What about Tasha Smith? She STAY playing the same damn role of a loud angry black woman. Example, all the Madea movies, Jumping the Broom and especially in ATL as the twin’s momma. Not gon lie, she’s hilarious and plays the role very well!

    Take Regina King off this list, She’s played a lot of diverse characters, well diverse as she can get. The Scary Movies is actually the only comedy thing I’ve seen her in. Where’s Brandy, she plays a terrible actress always.

    Meghan Good should have been on this list. Her role in Think Like A Man, as a woman attempting to be celibate until she finds the “one.” Mirrors her real life romance withe the preacher she is getting ready to marry.

      I agree that Meghan Good should have been on this list…but b/c she always plays the “pretty, popular girl” that the guy wants or the “pretty girlfriend”…or the “pretty friend”…I’ve never seen her in a dirty, ugly role…even when she played in one of the Saw movies, she was still Hot before she got killed lol..even Halle Berry gets ugly for roles sometimes.

    I imagine it’s hard to negotiate all those different roles and not have them become a part of your personality, especially when your fans want you to be that person. How many times did people ask Gary Coleman, as a grown man, to say, “What chu talkin’ ’bout, Willis?”
