For Teri Johnson and Andrea Adams, traveling the world is a year-round pursuit. But with summer (unofficially) underway, it’s as good a time as any to knock some cities off your travel bucket list. For the next eight weeks, the Travelistas are taking us along as they explore the sights and sounds and culinary delights of eight destinations, from the closer to home (New Orleans and Detroit) to the farther flung (Italy, Antigua, Mali and Johannesberg) — but first, New York City!

I strongly discourage you going to Mali as a tourist . Latest events = military coup + Touareg unrest +islamist militia

I like traveling in the spring or fall, when the weather is mild in most places. Also, since it’s not during peak travel season, air and hotel rates are better, and you can beat the crowds.

I love traveling and make it point to do so often. This summer will bring adventures to NYC (again!! Just can’t get enough of that city!!), Riviera Maya, and hopefully a couple of beach cities along the east coast!
