Rihanna’s Pastor Thinks ‘Thug Life’ Is Putting Her On The Whitney Houston Path To Destruction

Let’s get the question I know came to most of your minds immediately out the way first: what pastor? Bishop Vibert Lowe of the Power of the Blood congregation in Barbados has reportedly known Rihanna since she was a child, and the reports of the singers wild partying and frequent hospitalizations has him concerned for her future—and not just spiritually. In an interview with Now Magazine, he explained:

“She’s drunk a lot, she’s smoking a lot… It’s really bad behavior and she’s getting worse. She could head down the same route as Whitney Houston. She promotes a bad girl image and that’s not responsible
to her fans.”

“She’s going the wrong way,” the 64-year-old Barbadian pastor added. “When I saw the hospital picture I was so disturbed.”

This isn’t the first time Bishop Lowe expressed his concern for Rih Rih. Just a couple of months ago he told The Sun that Rihanna wasn’t setting a good example for young girls who look up to her and added:

“A lot of people have been praying for her and hoping that she will drop these bad habits. We feel it’s wrong for her to behave like this.”

He also said he knows just the place for her to go and turn her life around too.

“I don’t see her much when she comes back,” Lowe said. “She seems too busy, but she should spend more time in church.”

Guess he doesn’t believe once a good girl’s gone bad, she’s gone forever.

that girl needs to leave those rappers alone…they destroy your career
eventually…if i was her i would’ve found me a nice rich white boy and
called it a day…that’s what Whitney also should have done…i bet
Whitney would’ve been alive and never a crackhead if she had got with a
nice white guy…rhianna still has time…im going to pray for that
girl….i dont see nothing good for her in the future the way she is
living now….the black men today dont give a damn about protecting
sistas…. they are the ones pimpin us to the masses….if black men are
suppose to represent us and they are the ones saying were filth why
would society respect us…thats why everybody has been talking slick
about black women lately…rhianna thinks she is running the show now
but trust everybody is going to be calling her the town ho tomorrow…it
doesnt even matter if she didnt hook up with meek…when white ppl
start calling you a ho in there magazines you know ur career is going to
stress….i wouldve left black guys alone after that butt
    whooping…she sings pop music anyway

I don’t think its cool for this Pastor to put her out there like this. If he really is concerned why can’t he talk to her family privately and stage an intervention, instead of going to magazines?

    • Kai

      Good points. I also think he’s schetchy…

You can attend church every time the door opens, but if you don’t have a personal relationship with the Father, then you are still lost. Rihanna, like the rest of us, have got to realize that with God we are nothing. Right now money is her god (like a lot of us, rich or poor), and sad to say she may have to lose it all before she fully understands that money is not your salvation.

  • Taftlawwoman

His concern may be legitimate, my question is with the outlets he has used to express his dismay at her behavior. Instead of giving interviews with not one but two periodicals shouldn’t he have in private sat her two parents down and spoke with them?

  • http://twitter.com/prfectisshe myprfectimprfections

well pastor hate to be the bearer of bad news but this young lady has been “saved” already and its not to god. she has “souled out” so to speak. good luck but you may need holy water , to exorcise this poor chile.

  • IllyPhilly

She’s famous and young. Is the problem cuz she’s a SHE and not HE?

  • @msredbonebrite

Religion is too touchy of a subject, and some of the comments I’ve read have caused the hairs on my arms to stand up. So, for that reason, I’ll just say that I wish Rihanna nothing but the best, blessings included! The bible says, “Let he without sin cast the first stone.” Since we were all born sinners, that means none of us have the right to judge this young woman.

And this is MY opinion, so I don’t expect to be attacked for what I believe. Nor will I respond if anybody has anything negative to say about it! The devil IS a liar!

    • ariesdollface

      yes, Yes, YES!!!! great post!

    • Kai

      Amen!

    • Msblacrose

Jesus said you can judge a tree by the Fruit that it bears. A lot of people are not judging her, they are judging the Fruit that’s coming off her tree .

      • jray

He also tells you to judge righteous judgement people love to say don;t judge but run to court all the time to talk to a judge ans let him judge whether it be marriage divorce child support etc Why do you think there are books in the Bible called judges people have no understanding on what it is to judge and all they know how to say is don’t judge Christ wants you to judge but judge righteously how else can you tell GOOD or EVIL without judging it first i can’t judge if u go to heaven or hell I can only right or wrong based on the BIBLE. the word (judge) means to make and educated decision so you mean to tell me CHRIST don’t want u to make an educated decision about someone based on facts you don’t judge on gossip or rumors but judge on facts

  • Bluekissess

    I will pray for her

  • Bluekissess

Thats the problem. She doesn’t go to church. If she did I believe she wouldn’t be displaying this behavior. At first I thought it was rebellion because of the Chris Brown incident. This rebellion has been going on for over 3 years. It’s not cute anymore. She’s needs therapy and a disappearing act

    • guest

This has nothing to do with the cb incident. She has said she used that to be so she is. This is what she always wanted to do, she just couldn’t come fresh out the gate with it. That incident was the best thing to ever happen to her career. You don’t become raunchy over nite or because someone hit you. She doesn’t sing about hurt or pain, she sings about sex.

      • Jj

bs…your image is givin to you when u become an entertainer…and she doesnt eveb right her own music…that girl is hurting

        • guest

She said this is the kind of music she likes. Those are her words… if someone hurt you that bad you wouldn’t work with them… EVER She may not write her music, but she does pick the songs.

    • MsBlackRose

You’re right, its not cute at all, but just GOING to church doesn’t make people change or saved. You have to be in the RIGHT church. A HOLY church, that is preaching the truth of the word of God and a person has to ACCEPT the word. Its too many people going to the building every Sunday, “claiming” they know God but not in the Body of Christ.

  • Jessevandell

I’m surprised she has a pastor or that she was raised going to church, nothing about her makes me think she’s in touch with the lord in any way. Even rappers, who say some of the most un-christian like things, thank the lord when they receive an award, I don’t think I’ve even heard her do that.

    • Sadeyez

oh please i bet you didnt know Katy Perry grew up in church also…and her parents have a mega church….most of these celebrities grew up in church..toni braxton…even kanye west grew up in church….the devil likes to taunt the ones who leave the church the most because he knows they have an understanding of who God is thats why he makes them do the worst stuff…i feel so bad for this girl i think she is going to have a nervous breakdown real soon…meek millz, chris brown, and drake calling her a hoe now…that has to hurt…and her mentor doesn’t even speak to her anymore since she did birthday cake with the dude who destroyed her face…her mother needs to make her come home

      • Jessevandell

Can’t disagree with you there, it’s really quite sad how the entertainment world can completely mess a person up and makes someone change their belief so drastically.

        • Jessevandell

And i did know about all those celebrities you listed, you can add miley cirus to that list of “christian” celebrities that seem do be straying away from their beliefs in god.

  • RedButterfly81

    Waaaaaaaaaait…she has a pastor?

    • activist1

      I thought the same thing…

  • TRUTH

    Well

  • EarthIsASac

oh course, but that pastor is on the outside looking in through media, blogs and websites that make money off of blogging something bad about entertainers-Media is a growth machine-therefre the more they can write about someone the more money they make an because there is so much media-they compete by writing a crazier story than the next day.

Before all blogs and paparazzi magazines fans would only see what they do on stage yet your favorite entertainers had drug and alcohol problems, and break downs never really captured: Beyonce had a break down before the survivor album, mary j blige and rapper EVE with alcohol, alicia keys even said she was gonna have a break down that is why she went to Egypt before she came out with the Diary of Alicia Keys album back in 2005-WAY BEFORE THE BLOGS TO CAPTURE ALL OF THIS.

Plus-these male singers do not get the same pressure applied to them as the females-lets fix that instead of holding 1 person (rihanna) as the only influence some kids see in their everyday relevant lives.

Let her live and stay out people biz

    • JE

Rihanna’s Pastor is trying to save her soul from destruction. I applaud him for being a true man of God.  When this life is over, we either go to Heaven or Hell.  His comments show he is not condemning her, but actually showing compassion for her. She has already put out there that she has been intimate with Chris Brown and Drake. A lot of these teenage girls think it’s okay to have sex with a guy before marriage, because if Rihanna does it, so can they.  She sings about S & M and Birthday Cake (sexual innuendo). Her Pastor & the people that are praying for her express true love because they care about her soul. People love you when you’re on top of the world selling millions of cds, but when you’re low, who will love her then if she becomes a has been? Rihanna is not the only one though; many of these celebrities that we idolize are on the path of destruction. Pray for them before it’s too late & Jesus Christ returns. This life is so short, but Hell & destruction is for eternity.

      • TRUTH

        Ditto.

And the media is portraying what she is doing, it’s not made up.  We don’t see Alicia Keys and the likes (e.g. Celine Dion etc) being snapped all the time cus she has it under control.  Rihanna loves and bask in the attention!!

      • Kels

And thats what people forget is that these ppls souls can still be saved. Pastors aren’t suppose to condone or make excuses but to express love and concern while still letting people know that GOD SAVES.

  • Kels

Thats not true and you will be surprised what God can do.. Ppl need to stop taking the words of these drugged out, fake wannabe celebs and living their lives be them. Rihanna is a blessed young lady and she needs to count her blessings.

    • TRUTH

Blessed??  She certainly isn’t worshipping God or praising Him in her work so who’s blessing will she get?  By the by, God cannot physically come down and rehab her, it’s a mental thing.  In the words of her mentor:  When a good girl is gone bad, she’s gone forever.  Whitney spoke and praised God more than Rihanna will ever do, see her demise.  She signed her life away to the cult and can’t help it.

      • Kels

You tink she was always like this. For one thing I am a firm believer in God. I read plenty of interview where she (Robyn) stated that she prayed and asked God to allow her dreams to come true. God see and answers prayers (PERIOD). What a person chooses to do with the blessing (position) that God places them in is up to them. Her behavior is a direct result of her choosing to step outside of God and living her life in darkness. Thats what happens when people go outside of God. God doesn’t change is mind or lie. So yes, in that regards she is blessed and who are you to say she isn’t. I was raised in the church and have done all of what Rihanna is doing only thing is I didn’t live in the spotlight. 10 yrs later I love the Lord more than myself so yes it is possible for a bad girl to be good again…

        • TRUTH

Is this Rihanna’s mom?!?  Sad part is she grew up in church so she should know better and do better.  God is a God of wrath also and he who knows and does otherwise shall be beaten with stripes!!

          • Kels

Lol, no I am not her mother. Once young and dumb so I can relate but it seems you have some issues with this young lady so I’m going to just leave it at that..

            • TRUTH

Because I call it like the pastor see it also?!?  Get over yourself God’s angel.  Btw GOD is within you not somewhere up there!  That’s why I said she has to want to be the change.  She is in an industry where they have no regards for God because they think they have all the money in the world.  Am from the islands so I can relate to what he is saying.  Christian believe its harder to get back to church after you left.  Am with the pastor on this one, doesn’t mean “we” have a problem with her!!  Get your head out of the clouds!!

            • TRUTH

Btw, does Whitney Houston rings a bell?!?  Ok then.  All the prayers her mother and church did couldn’t save her!!  We see what happened, right?!?  Would you say it’s the same GOD who let Whitney perish?!?

      • Uahoo

Since when did the words if the very man who turned Rhi out become more powerful than God. God can change people. I doubt very seriously that Rhiannas blessings came from God. God and Satan bless for the purpose of showing their glory. Wealth is influence whether good or bad. God can win souls with the influence of wealth just like Satan can. I will plead the blood of Jesus over Rhi instead of quoting dumb Jay-Z and speaking death over her. Blessed are those who bless and cursed are those who curse.

      • Goodgirl

yes she is into the Illuminati because of wealth, power and money if she decides to renounce all of the hollywood glamour and turn back to God she will be fine because the bible says what will it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose their soul.
