Is Jennifer Over The ‘Basketball Wives’ Drama Enough To Leave?

Tahiti was a hot mess of a trip for all involved, and when all was said and done three cast members left the island, including Jen. That was pretty much the last we’d heard from her on the situation and then all of a sudden a blog post popped up on her website making it seem as though walking away from the trip meant she was walking away from the show entirely. She wrote in a post called “The G Code:”

“In relation to the Basketball Wives cast, I feel some of the ladies who claimed to be my friend and claimed to be neutral made snide and slick remarks along with snickering about me.  This proved to me that they indeed were not at all neutral.  This season for me seemed no matter what I did it wasn’t going to be right, so I stopped trying.  Tahiti was the last straw for me, we were half way around the world and I didn’t go there to argue or fight.  I just wanted peace, but soon realized that wasn’t going to happen unless I was secluded from those that were determined to argue and fight.  Arguing with former friends, slinging dirt back and forth was something I could have done in Miami not there.  And what ever happened to the “G Code”?  Whether the validity of things being said about me was true or false, as a friend there are certain things I would NEVER do. If you tell me something in confidence friend or foe, whether I don’t speak to you 20 years from now I will respect that and you will never have to worry about me repeating a word. The funny thing about arguing is choosing your words wisely because you can never take them back especially with millions of viewers watching.  Although I have been through a number of emotions regarding my friendship with Evelyn dissolving, I have not and will not participate in the mud slinging. Over 10 years we have shared good times, bad times, marriages, engagements, break ups, moving, vacations, holidays together, wins, loses and much more.  As we all have witnessed before, unfortunately our relationship has not survived the pressures and effects of a reality show and all that comes with it.  As difficult and hurtful as it may be, I will continue to be resolute with my decision to respect what our friendship was and not where is has gone.

“Even though this has been a trying season, I hope at some point my cast mates can get along and be civil with one another. I will always appreciate Basketball Wives Season 4 and this time in my life for the abundant lessons learned and personal growth I was forced to face. We all have our own individual imperfections, but I also believe we all have a good heart. As women of color it is important we uplift and support one another. I wish all my cast mates continued success and best wishes with their future endeavors.”

Most sites took Jen’s words literally, meaning her friendship with Evelyn and the rest of the girls was over, as was her relationship with VH1 and Shed. But after news went viral that Jen was leaving, her people quickly shut that rumor down:

“Jennifer is not saying goodbye to the ‘Basketball Wives’ series. Her blog was meant to clarify where she stands in regards to the drama that took place during the season finale in Tahiti, not as a goodbye letter.”

I think we all pretty much knew where Jen stood without that post so I have a feeling the real purpose was to create a little buzz. Oh well, we bit. I am surprised she would return for another season with her positive images of black women on TV crusade, but maybe she buys into the PR push from VH1 that season 5 is really going to be different.

Do you think Jen should walk away?

Jennnifer had a life before BBW and now she’ll have an even better life without being in an unhappy marriage. She does not need BBW but BBW needs her for a storyline of how much Evelyn,Tammi, and Shauie have grown and how sorry they are about she was treated.Don’t fall for the hokey-doke, they brought the show to its knees with their nonsense and need Jennifer to give it some grace.I hope she doesnt waste anymore of her time on this nonsense and let the rats go down with this ship of fools!

  • Calikush

I personally think that if Jen go back to BBW I still won’t be mad at her and she will still be one of my faves! I will commend her if she went back because that just goes to show that those triflin’ broads ain’t gon’ stop her! She doesn’t have to film with those birds, she can do exactly what Royce did this season and filmed on her own doing her own thing! I’m still team Jen!!!!

They are all thirsty and want to be on TV period. Even Keisha she knew what the show was about. If she wanted to be on a good wholesome show she should have gone to the TBN network. Lets not forget the money they get paid.

Tami is latching on to Evelyn’s balls so hard, and bigging her up so much, her attempt to look neutral by flattering Evelyn and downing Jen to be in the circle made her look like the immature woman she is.  Such petty high school drama.  Evelyn is the head of the popular girl click, and Jen has been replaced as the sidekick with Tami, Suzie is the wannabe/instigator. Jen is better off being friends with Kenya, Kesha, and Royce and leaving that circle alone.

Jen never allowed herself to be depicted as an individual prior to this season. Last season when Ev checked her bcuz of the radio interview it was pretty much over at that point. Her mean girl antics as Ev’s sidekick met with Karma, that’s all. Ev, I do feel is truly hurt by what she feels is Jen’s betrayal and disloyalty. The one thing I do get from her is that if she’s your friend, she’s your friend. But what makes her think she’s exempt from Karma as well? The one thing I do agree with Jen about is, friend or foe, 2 yrs or 20 yrs later, dirty laundry’s suppose to stay in the hamper. Not a good look Ev. If bipolar Tami learned that as an individual the correct disciptive word would be “I”. I don’t know if she’s addicted to “We”, “Us”, and “Our”, but when did she lose her individuality? Shaunie feels responsible for the embarrassment of the destruction of a long term friendship. When she said when she goes into mtgs. and wonder if they’re thinking “is she a hot ghetto mess”, that spoke volumes of what she personally thinks of her girls. Only we could destroy something that had such great potential with a huge fan base and record ratings. How sad is that?

I think Shaunnie is a hot ghetto mess. She played both sides and allowed alot of the mess that happended on the show.  Now, she’s worried about her reputation. She should have thought  about her reputation before she got in the middle of this mess.  It shows who she really is, and she’s no better that Eve, Jen, Tammi, or Suzie.

  • Ibdyw5

If she is smart she will leave.. it isn’t a good look for anyone and, viewership is down.  The show needs to be cancelled.

Basketball Wives is Jerry Springer with Louies.

If Jennifer walks away, it will surprise me.  I don’t even think Jennifer will leave.  Very few people will walk away from the money they are making by acting a fool and having a foul mouth on reality television.

I think she should move on but, what does she have to move on to outside of the makeup line.  I must say all of these girls except for Shaunie and  Tami were really unknown before Basketball Wives. So, although we think she should move on, does she have anything to move on to.

as long as there is money to be made, Jen will be there. I don’t see any of the women voluntarily walking away from the show.

    • Valrieregina

I think Jen should stay, and Tammi, Evelyn, and Suzie should not leave, but be FIRED!! VH1 can always add three new women to replace these bullies.  Everyone dosen’t have to get along, but everyone needs to respect each other, and this mean no bulling by any means. Tammi. Eve, and Suzie haven’t learned this lesson and why should they be rewarded by coming back and being paid?

  • Kathygainey

I think Jennifer should leave because she is too classy to hang out with those hags.

I’m over it, over the craziness. I was a late comer to the Basketball Wives franchise. I started watching when season 3 was airing and went back to catch up on seasons 1-2. At first I was intrigued by these women and their lives. Seeing how the women behind the game lived and related to one another. I of course exspected drama whenever you get a group of women together and add a camara there will be drama. But, what this show delevoped into I can no longer support. I had to ask my self; If I wouldn’t associate with these women in real life, why am I inviting them into my home each week? As a woman and as a woman of color I’m stuck trying to figure out who are they representing because I don’t know any women of any color who act like this. I will not be tunning in for season 5. I just take offense to the whole show and how these ‘women’ make it that much harder on other women to get respect.

jen has outgrown the bull there is no need to go back to that show .  jen needs to keep it moving after the divorce she has seen a new light and wants to go right when the others want to continue left. shaunie is seeing now that it was a mistake (after all the backlash) but too late for that . yes shaunie ppl probably do see you as a hot ghetto mess. ot: MN those ads on the side are very annoying .

Yes she should walk away Basketball Wives has done nothing to show these woman in a positive manner.  Bullying people, throwing drinks, jumping on tables talking loud and saying nothing.  I wonder if they really watch themselves on the show and see how much of a fool they are making out of themselves.

  • Rah Truth

The only one who would probably be a true friend to her (and not stab her in the back) is Kenya…and now Royce (who tells you to your face if she doesn’t like you and keeps it moving). Tami claimed not to have a problem with Jen, then talked about her just as bad as everyone else. Shaunie and Evelyn don’t like her. And, Suzie instigates something with her every chance she gets. If she signs up for another season, she’ll be signing up for  more abuse. She is the only one on the show who is better than that. Keep it moving, Jen! You were ALWAYS better than that show!

    • @msredbonebrite

That’s all Suzie does, is instigate! And it’s funny because that’s exactly what got her in hot water with Evelyn during the second season! But now, she’s doing it way more often than not and they acting like they just fine with it!

      • LAME

Suzie is Suzie. She’s a person that you can’t get mad at for running her mouth or instigating because thats her personality.  They have a choice to take it or leave it but why be mad at it? Everyone knows thats her personality, its not like she’s a hidden snake. Suzie very open about her snake like way, yet they choose to continue to deal with her. No need in getting annoyed, she’s just being her.

          True, true…

  • @msredbonebrite

It’s ultimately her choice, but if she does, then I say more power to her! I started off not really caring for Jen, and still think she’s bougie (which she has admitted on numerous occasions), but no one, especially a grown woman, deserves to be bullied by former “friends”, especially with that much history between them! It’s obvious most of their actions were done for the ratings, but to carry on the way that these women did this season, it was ridiculous and embarrassing to watch! I honestly didn’t think it could get much worse after the last season, but obviously I was wrong!

If she does stay, I hope she stays focused on being positive (which I’m sure all of the ladies are going to try to do after the backlash they’ve been receiving. I would like to see her do more with expanding her business, as well as learning how to love herself more before she tries to jump into another relationship, friendship included. It’s obvious everyone doesn’t deserve that title!

    Good luck Jen!
