Brandy And Monica Are Drifting Apart…Again!

It looks like a bit of a break-up is in the cards for Brandy and Monica.

Even though the two saw some success with their latest duet, “It All Belongs To Me,” it doesn’t seem like we’ll see them perform it together or go on tour as some of the fans hoped any time soon. In an interview B-Rocka did with Bark Bite, she said the talks have pretty much died down:

“Honestly we haven’t really talked about it since we stopped promoting ‘It all Belongs To Me.’  I just honestly think Monica and I are in a different place with our music. And my vibe is a little different this time around so I don’t know. I definitely feel like the fans would want a tour from us, but I don’t know, I just feel like I’m being pulled in a different direction. I’m definitely still open to it, but right now I’m looking in a different way right now for me.”

I think I get it: Monica’s latest album New Life didn’t do well and Brandy is hoping for a different fate with her upcoming album Two Eleven so she doesn’t want to keep herself associated with someone whose album flopped when she might experience that same fate.  But also, can these two stop trying to make this “friendship” happen?  They’re not friends; they tried to be business partners so they could both find some new success in today’s industry but it isn’t working. Let’s let it go, ladies.

Would you pay to see Brandy and Monica together on tour?  Can you fake a friendship for the sake of money?

i like the both of them. And I think they both are trying to hard! They can form a friendship, they just don’t want to. If they would have came out with a better single, they probably would have been the best of friends. LOL. that single was horrible! i expected the best from them, and they just rushed things. the song wasn’t good. it’s hard for REAL R&B artists to make it today when everyone popular is untalented and/or doing pop music. Monica needs to go back to the drawing board and work with better producers and give us something GOOD. I was so disappointed when I went to see her on Mother’s Day. smh. I hope they both find success because theyre both talented. Brandy just mad cause that single didn’t do good.

    B. Rocka? who the eff that? who ever wrote this is lame.

Even though her latest cd didn’t do well, Monica did have success with “Everything to Me” which was no. 1 on the Billboard R & B charts for almost 2 months & was nominated for a Grammy in 2011. That became my favorite Monica song. It was a winning formula! She needs to do more songs that sound classic like that & she will have success again. Still rooting for Monica!

I’m a huge fan of both still, so I’d definitely go to see them on tour. I hope things work out for both ladies.

  • Rmdavis45

Brandi and Monica are too washed up women that need to sit down no one is interested in their songs today at all so please sit down.

  • 8ESBABY

Nah, I’d rather just press ‘play’ and listen to Brandy’s greatest hits for free. I never have been a big fan of Monica.  The only song I like by her is Just One of Them Days.

    • Truthhurtz

Yeah I was never a huge Monica fan either. I like a few of her songs, old and new, but most of Brandy’s songs I’ve enjoyed throughout her career.

ALL: I’m not sure if you all noticed the interaction between the two just before or during the promotion of this single. They were drumming up all of this convo about being such good friends and how the music has helped put them back on track and blah, blah, blah. A lot of it came from Brandy actually.  But in reading around, there were stories of huge egos and lots of arguing between the two.  Now that the song didn’t do as well as they’d hoped, Brandy is saying her “vibe” is different. LOL, I bet it is.  Not much reaching on my part!

Why are people so quick to dismiss artists now?  We have become a fickle nation.  I love Brandy. I have every album and will get the next one too.  You don’t have to be sheep and just buy what you’re told to buy.  There’s a lot of artists who quite honestly back in the day would have never made it now thanks to how the industry is.  One being Janet Jackson…her first album come on.  Also if you don’t think we aren’t being taught what to like just look at how radio has changed since Clear Channel took over.  That’s why we get CB, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Drake and Rick Ross constantly.  It’s not because their good.

    • DrennaB

EYE will be one of the first ones to purchase Brandy’s album because I’m a fan!  I don’t know that it’ll sell as well as she would probably like but it doesn’t matter to me. I’m still going to support it.

What a weird kinda way to promote two singers, as a pair.  Well I think both women are talented but need songwriters.  The “It all belongs to me” song is immature for two women with serious voices that are now raising children.  Maybe they need to talk to Ne-Yo or something, take a course, pick up an instrument.  I dunno.

    • Tagirl

I think that they were just trying to see if they could create another hit like “The Boy Is Mine,” but “It All Belongs To Me” just wasn’t on that level. I wish they would’ve gotten with Rodney Jerkins(who produced “The Boy Is Mine”) and did a song.

    • Truthhurtz

I agree. The song just wasn’t up to par with where I think they are in their lives now. I would have loved to have heard a different song from them. I liked the fact that they came together to do a song together, just wish it had been a different song.

  • Ihh

both of these gilrs are paid…i wouldn’t bother with all of this stuff anymore i would do some behind the secnes projects…write some songs for the up and coming or try to start a girl group…this generation just doesn’t care about real music and they most likely wouldnt understand the content anyway…look at marsha and melanie fiona or christte these girls sing about real stuff BUT nobody is really listening…

  • Jolie

I was really trying to care about this Mo and B-Rocka “reunion” but I just can’t seem to do it.

    I love them separately!

i’d pay to see them i’m more of a monica fan than brandy tho.

  • Dawnie

honestly this story is the flop! the writer is just hyping it up. SMH

  • Nessie_mz

I would pay to see them but who say they have to be friends? They make good music apart and together and I think they owe it to their fans to give us that. As long as they respect each other I don’t care if they are friends or not.

  • Sunshine

Exactly.. why are ppl always trying to create a beef where there is none? Brandy and Monica both love and respect each other. There is nothing fake about their friendship.

    • Truthhurtz

Exactly. I think some people just want to see a beef between these two ladies. But it’s none there.

  • RenJennM

I don’t think it’s that deep. They’re just two different artists headed in too different directions. I doubt it’s anything more than that.

  • Playbaby4

I like Brandy and Monica but I saw them perform on one of the late night shows and B killed it!  She totally out shined Monica.

  • Ay

“Could you fake a friendship for the sake of money?”

Of course lol but they aint makin money so partnership=over

  • Twentyswt

Y do they have to b trying to create a friendship.  In honesty they seem like they honestly respect each other so y isn’t that enough.  if it were two men this wouldn’t even be bought up.

    • LiiSH

Respect… yes. I get that. They seem to respect each others talents and hustles. But I do not get the friend vibe from them either. They can be conglomerates without being friends.

    • Mrsadkiah

That’s what I said. I don’t see them having a friendship and I don’t see them trying to make one either. They just do what they do when they feel like hooking up and making music and thats it. Whatever, you know people always have to make it more than what it really is.

  • Lala

I would not pay to see either. They had a successful run. They should retire and write/train other young talent. Since they are both mothers raising their kids isn’t such a bad idea.

    • really???

i’d rather hear anything from them nomatter how long they’ve been in the game.

have you heard the”young talent” of today?

      • Msmykimoto2u

Real talk. I rather listen to their music anyday than this water down mess they spinning on the radio now days and Im only 23.
