Meagan’s Real-Life 365-Day Rule: Wedding Night Will Be First Time She Sleeps With Fiancé

In “Think Like a Man,” Meagan Good’s character had a 90-day rule before she would sleep with her man, but in real life, Meagan’s trial period is much longer. In fact, adhering to her celibacy plan is how she said she knew her soon-to-be husband was the one.

“Because he was willing to be celibate with me for a year,” she told Life & Style in an interview. “He loves God, more than I love God, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong [with it].

“Our wedding night will be the first time we’re actually together.”

This shouldn’t come as a total and complete surprise. Meagan did say she would be celibate until marriage, but sometimes that doesn’t always last. Plus she’s always playing a seductive character on screen which sometimes makes it hard to separate her real life persona from the one on camera. The fact that her fiancé is a preacher/movie producer should have made it easier for the both of them though.

Meagan says the wedding planning is already underway, and though she didn’t say if they’ve already set a date, she did share other details.

“We found the venue, which I’m really excited about, and it’s going to be in Malibu,” said Meagan, who met her fiancé while making “Jumping the Broom” in 2011. “I know I want to go for a bayou-themed kind of Spanish mosque, a very enchanted-y Twilight feel.”

More power to these two and their self control.

Too bad the blogger ended the story with more power to the couple and their self-control.  That just sounds like a slight negative sign-off or perhaps it was one of unbelief.  Where I recognize it is not popular or trendy behavior, I am delighted to read about people who are bold enough to share their beliefs even when they’re hard to believe.  I pray for their continued strength.

I am glad that she is celibate, as I am too and it makes me feel less judged  by my peers when I can say Megan is as well. I wish poor people would engage in celibacy as to decrease the spread of diseases, heartache, and children born in wedlock. Not to say celibacy is a cure, but it does increase the ability to make more sound decisions.

I am excited for them, but I am also tired of hearing about who is and isn’t sleeping together. Sex used to be a personal thing. I am not trying to know everybody like that.

Megan, I am very proud of her decision to wait until she is married. To her finance, i admire a man of God that is willing to do it God’s way.   May God bless your union.

What is wrong with this picture, she won’t get intimate with him but has super steamy scenes in the movies.  Maybe her husband gets off on watching other men in close intimate contact with his potential wife.  There seems to be some hypocracy here

This is nice to hear in a world where a woman is so sexualized its good for all of us to stop and realize there is so much more to life, relationships they will be closer because they may have to find other ways to be intimate may be through the mind which last longer than 40 minutes.#bestwishes!

im proud of her…and im happy she is talking about this more young black girls today need to hear stuff like this…our bodies are temples and we should respect it…and im going to pray for there marriage…and the writer of this article kinda sounds like a hater if you ask me…what does her movie scenes have to do with her personal life?…if she is living a life different from her movie characters then why would that be harder for her?…she isnt dating a man who wants to jump into her pants she is dating a man who wants marriage…if that is all he wanted im sure it would have been over way before 365 days…who writes some of these articles?

more power to Magan..im celibate too..this gives me a little hope

Good for her. This couldn’t be me. But I like how she made a decision and stuck with it. I know too many women who claim their going to remain celibate and end up slipping. Kudos

I’m proud of her for doing and I wish I had stayed strong in my decision to remain abstinent. Perhaps it is not too late, but my dad told me that when you remain abstinent, God bless you with a partner who will satisfy all of your sexual desires. . .

Wow Megan…such encouragement to me…I knew you loved God…buy this sets it in Stone…no one is perfect…but when you choose to set aside your flesh to please GOD that pleases HIM…at one I waited almost 5 yrs to have relation then I gave up..I’m
not saying it’ll be 5 yrs but my soon to be husband will have to court me…in order for me to share all my love to him…much blessings your way Megan…this really gave me encouragement…made my week…thank you for sharing… :)

Good for them.  It’s nice to hear someone in Hollywood isn’t bed hopping.  God will bless them for their decision to abstain.

I don’t know about this.  This guy is a seven-day adventist and she claims to be a Christian and I don’t think she is a seven day adventist.  This presents some challenges if they don’t get proper martial counseling.  From my understanding, seven day adventist women does not wear makeup, seductive clothing revealing clevage, also their is a differences in religion beliefs, also, she does some seductive scenes and I am not for sure how this guy is going to accept her doing those scenes that she is doing.  I hope they go to the right person who will address these issues prior to them walking down the aisle.

Since he is aware that she is an actress and he is a movie producer as well as a preacher, he should be okay with the type of scenes she does and how she dresses, and that they have discussed the differences in their respective religious beliefs. If it is not a problem now, I don’t think it will be once they are married. It seems as though their relationship goes way beyond the superficial stuff and he is secure enough to handle what goes on in her career.

    • Miss B

In general the Seventh Day Adventist religion is a lot more conservative than most but, they are regular people lol. At the Seventh Day Adventist churches I’ve gone to you see all sorts of people with all sorts of opinions. It really depends on the individual (like any religion). As far as the difference in religious beliefs, Seventh Day Adventists follow the bible, period and the biggest difference is celebrating the Sabbath on a Saturday instead of a Sunday (because it is stated in the bible). So as a Christian, who believes in the bible and wants a stronger relationship with Jesus/God I’d imagine she’d be open to learning more. After all, all Christians seek to know him…no harm in stepping outside of your comfort zone to do so.

Kudos to the couple for their decision to keep the sheets on lock until they say “I do”. Great story!

  • L-Boogie

    I am happy for her.

Best wishes to Meagan and her upcoming wedding!
