Wrap It Up: 7 Things In Entertainment We’re Tired As Hell of Seeing

May 16th, 2012 - By IndigoBlack

It’s so easy for things to go out of style and for others to be in denial about it. In the entertainment business, what’s hot one minute can go out of style with the quickness the next. And while most viewers or consumers might express that they’re tired of seeing something, as long as it makes somebody a few dollars, it’s sure to be around for a while–whether you like it or not. But it never hurts to b***h about it, right? That’s what I’m here for…

People With Little to No Talent on My TV

And they’re making mad money! Call me jealous (I am…just a bit) about it all, but with all the talented people I see on the trains alone in NYC trying to get some attention and a few dollars, it makes me somewhat irritated that folks who can’t hold a note, act for s**t, or do something other than act a fool in Louboutins on reality TV are making all the money and taking all the jobs. Who needs to be talented when you can writhe around on the floor butt naked in an unimaginative music video while singing/yelling/yodeling and go platinum because of it? Right?

I love you because you are speaking my heart right thurr!

  • Squeezezablechic

I can’t agree more with that last one. Playing a Hispanic actress and lip syncing on “Selena”…was good. Aside from that, what real “talent” does JLo have? Certainly not singing. Yet, she’s judging a singing contest. American Idol should be ashamed of themselves!

  • It’s Called Sarcasm

This article was so on point I’m speechless!!!

  • Britt

I wouldn’t say R&B/Hip-Hop artists doing pop music is “selling out.” It’s always called “selling out” when a black artist does it. Although I am getting a little tired of the techno-pop music trend, I think artists like Usher and Nicki Minaj are crossing over and the songs do really well on the charts overseas. I think it’s a trend and it might be over come 2013.

JLo’s collecting her chips, she ain’t mad, and I ain’t mad at her, she obviously knows the industry and she knows what she’s doing, she keeps making hits and millions…

OMG THANK YOU for this article is it so0o0o0o0o0 true and is over due being said! Especially about phony couples (Kanye you disappoint me), non singing judges (gtfoh JLo!!) and selling out artist (Usher WTF happen to you dude?) Thats why I keep the TV and radio off and live in my own world cause its so0 lame out there!

  • Jolie

Truer words have never been spoken.

  • KJ23

Oh IndigoBlack, how great you are!  Love the article!

  • Blaizestarr

I wholeheartedly agree with this article. There are better actors, singers, etc. in these industries who do not get the accolades they deserve because the untalented are..Its a straight mess and getting rather old at the same time.

  • Traci

All these points are so true!! I literally watch HGTV all day because I refuse to watch the reality show garbage. Great article…I could have wrote this myself.

  • Unque43

I want to see some good television. All the real this and real that I am sick of it. A good sitcom. To make me laugh. I am so sick of the wives of this and that place. No talent people on tv what has happened to the tv we use to know.

  • honeybrown1976

Actually, Steven Tyler is a major rock star and can sing. JLO can kick rocks for real.

    • Lei

I was actually going to say that I believe Steven Tyler is waayy more talented than J-Lo could ever be.  It was the same thing that irked me about Paula Abdul. I understand why they kept her, because her crazy hijinks kept people tuning in, but why did they hire her in the first place. Don’t ‘get me wrong I danced to her songs, but singing is not her thing. She should’ve been on So You Think You Can Dance. J-Lo same thing, be on a dancing show not a singing show. That is why I think the Voice is kicking American Idol’s butt, the judges are actual singers and musicians.

  • IllyPhilly

YES!!! WTF is with Nicki Minaj’s faces? Why she always look like she’s holding in a fart. You know what I mean when it’s tryna seep out and your clenching for dear life. LOL I agree with every thing about the shows! Now let’s get it popping. Bring back Soul Food!!!

    • Baybeecakes Xoxo

Im white and im sayin bring back soul food!! Where’s R&B at?? That genere disappeared!

    • lovingthis

Right on point.Initially i thought the face thing was cute, but its just so annoying now

  • Just saying!!

OMG YESSS TO THIS WHOLE LIST!! JUST YES!! That’s one reason I don’t watch these competition shows. As someone who has studied vocal music for years now I get so IRRITATED when I see these people who don’t know the first thing about singing judging other people–like really though? …and yes…don’t get me started on the lack of talent out there and how the talented sell themselves out for money!! smdh!

  • Guest

OMG I have been thinking the ame thing 4EVER about thedavid guetta comment. I must admit, its a good beat to play in spinning class or on the treadmill, but FLOrida and pitbull ned 2 get it together and leave that pop alone….its waaay 2 hollywood!

  • CherryValentine

& I love it!  This article is exactly what I have been screaming for a while now! Thank you Indigo Black!! You made my night!

  • tosinger

    Thanks for the article

  • RedButterfly81

How about grown people on reality TV with a big attitude problem thinking they’re strong and independent?

  • Tisha

This article was soooooo funny and sooooooo true, especially the last one,  music is all about image, I dont care how you look, I just wanna hear some good authentic singing without all that studio mess. Every singer in the world can not just happen  to be pretty.

    • Squeezablechic

So right, we loved Tracy Chapman bc she was good and talented…not bc of her looks.
