Who Would’ve Thunk? J.Lo, Rihanna and Kim K Ranked Amongst World’s “Most Powerful Celebrities”

In its annual rankings of the world’s (read:America’s) most powerful celebrities, Forbes determined that Jennifer Lopez is the most influential person in show business today. I know she’s sitting pretty as an American Idol judge these days but being ranked as the most powerful celebrity in the world? I beg to differ. J.Lo’s music and style have very little influence in pop culture, relatively speaking.

The fourth ranked celebrity, Rihanna, makes much more sense. Although her records always struggle to gain a foothold on the pop charts, it’s no question how much her style choices weigh in on popular demand and taste. Although we see much less of Oprah these days, as she’s not actively picking books and her favorite things on her past wildly popular show, the cable CEO is ranked second. She’s still raking in the dough big time although OWN is in debt. She reportedly made $165 million in the last year.

The lowest-earning celebrity to crack the top ten list is Kim Kardashian. The fake reality star made $18 million and ranked number 7 on the list even though it seems that everyone seems to love to hate her family.

    This is another example of how America is going down the toliet……….You have a woman (Kim Kardashian) who has basically wh*red around with tons of men and made a p*rn video to get where she is at today……She is a disgrace as a woman and a human being period……The sad part of this all is the fact that their is a small sector of our society that keep buying into her BS so she can continue to be rich…..So when you think about it the public is just as pathetic as Kim…..Its really become sickening how idolizing stars has gotten out of hand and a big reason is due to the media.

    It’s comical that some of these people are even on this list like Kim K.  What is she influencing little girls to be, prostitutes for famous guys.  Forbes is always dropping the ball with their lists.

        Actually she is if you think about it. The list isn’t about who is the BEST influence, it’s about the most influential. It’s about who people are paying attention to. Whether or not Rihanna deserves to be 4th I don’t know…but it’s silly to say she isn’t influential because people definitely pay attention to what she does and follow her. I remember when my voice teacher (who knows Rih can’t sing) came in with that slanted hair cut everyone was trying to get when “Umbrella” came out. I was like HUUUH??? She was like “what, I thought it was cute?” LOL. Plus my voice teachers who don’t even really know pop stars know who she is. She gets SO MUCH EXPOSURE so I’m not surprised….
