(Washington Business Journal) — On Wednesday morning, as it debated the District’s fiscal 2011 budget plan, the D.C. Council, led by Council Chairman and mayoral hopeful Vincent Gray, killed $46 of $49 million set aside for streetcars on H Street NE.
By Wednesday afternoon — a miraculous turnaround.
“After careful deliberations and explanations and conversations, another $47 million was found to fund the streetcars. Ain’t politics grand?” Ward 1 Councilman Jim Graham posted on Twitter shortly after 3 p.m.
