#TeamSerena Makes Vogue’s Olympic Cover

Last week we were just talking about the lack of diversity in women’s magazines and here comes Vogue with a cover featuring Serena Williams and all her pro athleticism for the magazine’s June Olympic hopefuls issue.

Representing Team USA alongside the tennis pro is soccer star Hope Solo and swimmer Ryan Lochte showing off bodies only Olympians can achieve. With famed photographer Annie Leibovitz on the job, it’s no wonder these athletes look so amazing.

There’s another bonus inside as well. Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade is featured along with model and ballet dancer Karlie Kloss for a spread on the 2012 Olympians, and he talks about what it means to be apart of the American Dream Team and to have a chance to recover from their semi-finals loss in Athens four years ago.

Check out the behind the scenes footage of the photo shoot here as the athletes talk about the work they put in to making it to the pinnacle of pro sports. What do you think about the cover?

    Good for you, Serena!

  • Candacey Doris

Looks good! Glad to see Serena getting on with her life.

  • Treacle123

    Serena’s head looks weird.

    • Ms. Spring

You should be glad there is a Black woman on the cover of Vogue. What a hater.

      • Treacle123

Why should I be glad? Serena’s photo on the magazine is not flattering, her head looks huge…aka poorly photoshopped.  Sorry, if you want to accept that since finding positive images of  black women in the media is a hard in USA.

Actually, The photo in amazing and the retouching is excellent.

        • Ms. Spring

Well, you should focus on the positive things Black women/people do for the community not bash them down based on how they look or are photoshopped. At LEAST they did not lighten her skin like they did with Beyonce on the photos.  If you want to congratulate the video vixens with no substance so be it, but Serena is one of the people who makes positive contributions for the Black community. AND there is diversity on that cover.  Get over yourself.

I do not live in the USA, so seeing positive black faces in the media is not a dime a dozen for me. You guys have come so far but not really

You are one of those people that obviously don’t speak for us. Get off your high horse.
