I have to ask you guys about the pole. Did your fans come back and say anything about it? Did they have a problem with it?
Tina: The fans didn’t have a problem because the show was really…nothing about it was offensive. Both of us are conscious of making sure we’re not offensive to our followers because before we were Mary Mary the tv show, we were Mary Mary the group, the gospel group. So we’re very aware of that, conscious of that and respectful of that. But nobody really had anything to say.
Erica: Not in a major way. We saw some comments online, some people felt like it was cool, some people felt like Tina’s position was the better position but nobody felt disrespected or violated. I don’t think we offended any fans.
Tina: I think at the end of the day my thoughts on many of the things that I would not do as Mary Mary are probably not at all personally. Because Mary Mary is more public. It wasn’t us being sisters by ourselves, it was us being sisters on our tv show. So a lot of time I’m just concerned because outside of us just being Campbells, just Erica and Tina, we are Mary Mary, so for that reason there are some things I opt out of, strictly for that reason.
Erica: For me, I still feel like, no matter the action, the heart of you shines through. If it’s not for the wrong purpose or reason, then I don’t have a problem with it. That’s why I was cool with it. We both have different opinions. And those are things that people maybe have picked up on is that even though we are in the same group, we still have different opinions. And that’s ok. I think it’s okay. I think it’s healthy because that’s what happens a lot of times with Christian folk. We feel like we’re all supposed to think the same, do the same, be the same and everybody’s different. Your convictions are different and your feelings are different. That’s why you have a personal relationship with God. There are some things that just across the board, just ain’t good, I don’t care what your personal relationship is. But I think this was one of those things where it was just the person.
