Snoop Dogg “Sensual Eruption” (aka Sensual Seduction)

First of all, the thought of rappers singing is already a bad idea. It’s awkward when a tatted gangster rapper begins to sing like a choirboy. Snoop Dogg’s 2007 single “Sensual Eruption” just leaves a bad taste in your mouth, not because of the song itself but because it’s Snoop singing. It’s hard to see the man who made “Gin and Juice” sing in autotune. Speaking of, T-Pain would have been such a better choice for the track. Regardless, we can’t hate that much. The track broke the top ten on the Billboard charts and went gold.

    Ciara’s voice is a mystery to me how can so many people not realize she is actually just talking she no vocal range at all she had to get her cousins to make youtube video claiming she can sing

    Ciara has the worst voice. Period. She might as well talk the words out. No one would be able to tell the difference.

      Ciara has the worst voice she always needs bass in her tracks and a featuring artist i.e. Ludacris that single Ride would be nothing without the bass or if Ciara had to use three octaves to sing she has to whisper when she sings and make use of the bass as singing too loudly will show the cracks in her voice. I am convinced Ciara is Trangender it explains her no ‘high notes’

    I would love to hear Fantasia sing Love on Top. Beyonce did good, but Fantasia would tear the end of that song up!

    I think they missed a few songs so let me add one. The 1st that comes to my mind is Ray J’s “One Wish” LOVED the song…the vocals, hmmmm not so much. Sometimes I would just bust up laughing  while listening to him try to belt out the lyrics.. Usher could have sang the hell outta that song!

    Amerie is eye-candy and that’s it. I liked her One Thing….until she started singing. I’d also add Trey Songz Can’t Be Friends. It’s a good song, but he sounds like sheep when he sings.

      Chris Brown deserves a second chance… but he needs to go away LONGER, and Grow up… no one likes a Girl beater – especially when you are so damn Tall and strong. Ugh… Gagging! He needs to go away and come back with some real growth. Not this mess about being mad and “forgiving all his enemies” What about asking for forgiveness??? Crying at the Micheal Jackson tribute is not the same thing…. NO! He needs to try again.

      I am willing to give him another chance if he asks correctly.

    This list was so spot on. I have to say kudos to the writer becasue the alternate singer isn’t necessarily someone who isn’t imaginable or even a bigger star than the original which mean consideration was given to actual vocal ability.  Nicki does a great job writing the songs she calls herself singing on and Mya does need a hit so Right Thru Me makes sense. I think How to Love needed to be sung by a woman period. I have heard alot of covers and the girls were killing (plus I never think Chris Brown should sing anything). I agree with everything else except Sexual Seduction… it wouldn’t matter if t-pain sung it. It would have been as successful either way.

    I always thought Drake should’ve sung How to Love. He already has the whole “sensitive thug” vibe– plus a better voice. No way I would’ve taken Chris Brown serious. Maybe BEFORE his selfishness reared its head– not now.

    its a reason y whoever wrote this is not an a&r or producer. when producers write song they usually awready have in their mind who want to sing the song and y isnt rihanna on this list cuz she cant sing at all her voice is on the same level as amerie ashanti and ciara jus wit more autotune

       I would say becasue Rihanna sings songs that fit her voice. They aren’t lyrically complicated (sometimes they barely have lyrics… We found love anyone?) or intensely dynamic songs. They are written with the attitude she displays in mind so you don’t get that whole Amerie Touch vibe. She can talk through most of them without the song losing anything so why waste serious singing chops on something like Rude Boy?

      Yes! A million times yes!!! I love Rihanna songs, just without her singing them. Unfaithful was a good song, but her nasally vocals killed it for me every time. She has sooooo many good songs under her belt, but with horrible vocals all over them. She needs to stick to the caribbean influenced songs. Her voice only works for those types of songs.

    I agree with most of these except Snoop’s. I honestly cannot imagine anyone but him doing that song and video, it was hilarious :) Sometimes it’s not just about the “powerhouse” vocal ability but who can convey the message of the song the best. Also love the way he broke from “singing” into his swexy rap voice then right back into the song.

    you know i’d never really thought about it but chris brown’s rendition of how to love would’ve sounded way better. alot of these songs however are very good and i enjoy them sung by the original  (im looking at you ashanti, ciara and c. milian)

         Kelly Rowlands zone is AUTOTUNE LANE. Chick can never and should never take the microphone and sing, straight with no track, no music because it would be apparent that she IS NOT A SINGER. She happens to be able to hit some, very very few notes but a singer she is NOT and NEVER will be as evidenced by her career.

      I disagree, though she is LAZY with her technique… Kelly sounds just like BEYONCE, only ate few octates lower. .. I would make the arguement about MYA, she is a very week singer and nothing special much like Ashanti.
