Earlier the “Today” show aired part two of Bobby Brown’s first interview since Whitney Houston passed, and after clearing his name about being the cause of Whitney’s drug habit and subsequent death, Bobby turned attention on the controversy surrounding Whitney’s funeral and Bobbi Kristina.
“It wasn’t that I wasn’t invited. I was invited,” Bobby told Matt Lauer about Whitney’s funeral. “That’s not the type of family the Houston family is. They’re a great family, and I appreciate them very much.
“Whoever the security was there, asked me to have my entourage—which was my children—to sit somewhere else. After the third time of them coming to me, I felt a little disrespected by the security,” he said.
“I kissed the casket and me and my children left the building.”
Although Bobby insists there’s no bad blood between him and the Houston family, Cissy has seemingly refused to speak to him at all since Whitney’s passing.
“I tried to reach out to Whitney’s mom. I haven’t been able to reach her yet,” Bobby said. “I know she’s going through it deeply. She lost her only daughter. I love her dearly, and I’m here anytime she wants to talk.”
As far as his own daughter goes, there have been several speculations about Bobbi Kristina’s ability to cope with her mother’s death and rumors of drug use. Bobby says he knows everything that’s going on with her and he isn’t worried.
“She’s fine,” he said of Bobbi Kris. “She knows that her mom is gone, and she knows that she has to live.”
As far as drug rumors go, Bobby said, “I would always be worried about that,” but he told Matt Lauer right now it’s not an immediate concern.
“I know what she is actually doing. I think people are making assumptions of what my daughter is and how strong she is,” he said. “People tend to want to control strong-willed people. And that’s what I see. I am her father. She talks to me about everything.”
One thing she apparently doesn’t talk to him about is relationships. When Matt asked about Bobbi’s rumored relationship with Nick Gordon he said he doesn’t know about that and doesn’t believe it’s true, although he “would expect her to have a boyfriend.”
As far as his own life goes, Bobby says he’s good too.
“I’m living the life that I want to live. They can doubt all they want.”
Do you think Bobby should be more concerned about Bobbi Kristina?
