Serena Williams Says She Can’t Bear To Have Her Heart Broken Again

Serena Williams is done dating—like pretty much for good. In an interview with Celebuzz, the tennis pro completely opened up about love, and mostly about heartbreak.

“I have given up on dating. It just hasn’t worked out well for me,” the 27-year-old said. “I’m a really emotional person. I give my all and everything. I do make mistakes — like every human does — but the last relationship just was too much of a heartbreak for me. I just can’t go through that anymore. It was hard.”

Looking through our Serena Williams relationship Rolodex, her last relationship was either Drake or Common but we’re not sure which she’s referring to. Serena and Common were on-and-off for three years, beginning in 2007, but shortly after, Drake appeared to move in and take his spot. That situation didn’t really last though—about three months at the most—so if we had to choose, we’re going to assume she’s talking about Common. Either way, Serena says it’s going to be a while before she’s linked to any other man.

“I just have to remove myself from that atmosphere for about the next decade or so,” Serena said. “I can’t get involved.”

It’s crazy to think two years post break-up Serena still feels this strongly. If I’m not mistaken, Common has made a few statements suggesting he might be still be missing that old thing—and let’s not forgot that beef with Drake that was probably about her. These two might need to just quit playing and give it another try.

What do you think about Serena’s heartbreak hiatus?

Serena Williams will never find love because she is not mature enough. Just look at who she was dating 2 rappers (boys). She needs a man who has HONOR,RESPECT,DIGNITY,INTEGRITY,VALUES, MORALS,CHARACTER,LOVE for himself. She needs a man that is going to love her for inner beauty and not for her behind. Soon as she figures this out and dress with some common sense then maybe the right man will come along, and stay away from Kim Kardashian etc. The real men in the world do not want to waist there their time on her. Start talking with some sense and not trying to be something that your not, get rid of the fake hair and use the hair that you where born with. No man wants to wake up with a woman who has fake hair that is falling all over the place. Their are plenty of men in the world for her if she cleaned up her act and not be so emotionally troubled. She needs to start loving herself first before she can love someone else and when that man comes around she has to be ready because

Are you getting ready for Wimbledon? Quit dating boys and date men. Find a mans man, actors and entertainers are primarily hubris and self absorbed. It’s kind of difficult to see yourself if your man is always in the mirror. You need an outdoor guy that fish, hunt and cut wood for thge fireplace has strong hands. He is comfortable in a Pendleton jacket or Tux, a pick-up truck or a limo, shoulders if you need them. If trouble approaches your door he confronts it and ask that you stand back until it is determined what it might be then discuss. When you look into his eyes you see security, comfort and trust. He is secure in you doing your thing knowing that all is right in the universe of Serena and he.

Waiting 10 years won’t guarantee she still won’t get hurt. I understand taking a break (as we all should to figure out what we want), but 10 years is excessive. She’ll change her mind.

more power to her… i took five before getting into another one…

Okay; I really do not believe her. I don’t. Most women and men put up this roadblock and say in their most sentimental voice, “I can’t do it… I can’t bare the heartbreak” waddy waddy wah. Get real. Serena Williams (just like every other human being) has standards. She knows exactly what she wants and needs in life and sadly… she probably ignores the signs and creates a checklist of things that she could change in a man so she can create the perfect partner. I have had my heart broken and it hurts. It is a disappoint. But…. I also know that there are 7 Billion people in this world and it is not easy to find that ONE person that is truly worthy of committing to. And; lets not forget that in today’s day and age “Settling” is considered retro. People seek to upgrade their relationships after watching reality tv, red carpets and the latest iphone coming out. Very rarely do people truly trust in their partner and open up that communication. Instead people sign pre-nups and say, “lets end it” before they actually believe in a happy ending.

This is such a flattering picture of her. She is very attractive. She is young, so I have no doubt she will find someone to share her life with. If she is patient, he just might find her.

  • Wow

I really wish she and Common could have made it work.

  • Candacey Doris

I think a decade is a little much, but taking a break to get back to her is a good idea. She should concentrate on herself, her businesses and her sport.

  • KJ23

I understand how she feels.  I’m about to get a divorce, and I’ve been through a lot of crazy things in relationships, so I’m just giving up completely.  I feel like I don’t have healthy relationships, and my biggest fear is to have my child think that having horrible relationships are okay.  I guess I’m taking the cowardly out.

She will change her mind. A decent kind real man will do that for her. I’ve been there but I be damned if I’m waiting ten years (I’ve taken a year or two off).  That’s a little extreme for someone who has so much to offer. Hope the next time around is a winner. Love me some Williams Sisters.

  • Chanda

Serena’s not 27, she was born in 1981 so you do the math. Seems like more and more women in their 30s are embracing singlehood or have stopped looking. I use to think it was just me but I’m not alone after all.

Well, sometimes it is healthy to give yourself a break.  You can clear your head, and think about what requirements you want in the next relationship. I really think that for her to realize that she needs to step back, and rest is a good idea.  Then whenever, or whomever she dates; she can do it quietly because she is taking herself out of the “limelight” for a while.

  • Sweetthing70057

As soon as she forgets abt it, the right man will come along.

  • L-Boogie

I do not blame her.  Stay focused.

  • Gimmeabreak78

She sounds like any grown woman who’s been through it before.  Much success to her.
