Coming To A Theater Near You: ‘Basketball Wives’ The Movie

Shaunie wasn’t lying when she said she had other projects in the works, but the reality is they’re of the same ilk as the “Basketball Wives” franchise. Variety is reporting that Tracey Edmonds and Shaunie O’Neal have sold a pitch to Fox Greenlight for a feature-length film that’s pretty much ‘BBW’ meets the big screen:

“Drawing loosely from the lives of O’Neal and some of her friends, the Searchlight project centers around a young woman who follows her boyfriend to Miami after he gets drafted into the NBA. Thrust into the world of professional sports, she meets the other players’ wives and learns from their trials and tribulations.”

Sound familiar? Shaunie apparently reached out to Tracey about the project via Twitter and the producer brought fellow “Jumping the Broom” collaborator Elizabeth Hunter on board to write the movie script.

“The beauty of a feature film is that we’ll have the ability to dig much deeper into the stories and characters that come from this very colorful world and create a very juicy, action-packed narrative,” Edmonds told Variety.

It might be a little too soon to start guessing which actresses will play the ladies of the VH1 series, but I don’t think I’m getting ahead of myself when I say let the boycotting begin.

    Where are Shaunie’s heels in this picture?
    I will not see this movie. I’m joining Star Jones’ boycott of the tv show, and I’m boycotting anything to do with Shaunie. I doubt the movie will have the same amount of coonery and buffonery as the tv show since Hunter is writing a script, but I have no time for this, just on G.P.

    This is sad, the same attitute that we try to teach our children to stay away from is now a big payday. TV has all of these shows about women with nasty attitudes and every evil intentions and this is what sucess in America has come to. Besides the show is called “Basketball Wives” and no1 is married; the word wife has lost it’s purpose and it’s power in society with women like these women. U might think that u’re being real and u’re showing what’s real but in reality u ladies are showing young girls in order to make it or be a star u have to be a nasty gold digger or a bitter angry ex wife…etc.Yes u may have ur riches but money has proven time after time that no matter how high u get, u’ll still answer to God and u still need Jesus. How many celebrities killed themselves and are addicted to drugs b/c they’re not happy…oh well who am I to tell u something with my broke self right!!!!…y’all all know y’all have issues so keep listening to ppl and counselors that need u….God bless anyhow!!……selah(think on that)

    I like Shaunie and im not mad at her for trying to make her money however BW has went straight to the gutter and seeing these grown a** women fighting and throwing things is disgusting and straight childish….

    I will not be supporting this crap. Who cares why does it have to be “basketball” problems why can’t it be women problems? How would this be entertaining? I really hope a boycott and a petition is out right now. I would sign it

    I like Shaunie O’Neal as a person, she a very strong black women, trying to make money without depending on her Ex Husband. Yes BBW has turned into an ignorant show. In the beginning it was a cool show with cute drama with not as much fighting, people jumping off tables. I think it would be a better as a book than a movie because you are showing people it’s okay to fight out your problems instead of talking them out or trying to find a solution to work out your problems. My thing is if you have an issuse with me come talk to me about an not behind my back, and if you wanna fight me, I say let’s go down to the boxing ring an box it out. And you cannot blame Shaunie for all this drama, reality TV is only going to show you bad parts and maybe a little of the good parts. That goes for all rea;ity TV, because some people jut rather watch crazy drama than a hapy drama free show. I rather watch BBW than to watch BBC because that show is SUPER hood now. If this does become a movie it will make money, because people cant help but to watch drama….

    Anything that the greedy,disgraceful Shaunie is involved in to make money I will most definitely boycott after watching the ignorance of BW which shows how low you and your minnons will go for money.Yeah the minnons that need money{no jobs,some with little money or no money} a little bit of an excuse.But you have no excuse with all that money{millions} from Shaq except to show that class and morals are something you lack .

    I think it might be too little too late with the way people feel about Ratchetball Wives now. lol Petitions and court cases all over the place, I think that show may have run its course. But I’m kinda curious to see who will sign on to act in this film.

    oh Lord… i’d go see it just to see the debacle… but honestly could careless the show is rachet and im sure if their using the writer from jumping the broom it’ll suck just as much as that movie did…

    I hope they are able to incorporate positive topics that people can use. I was skeptical about “Think Like a Man”, but some of the information was useful and it was entertaining.
