Machu Picchu
For a look back into the time of the Incan Empire during 1462 AD, take a trip to Machu Picchu, which is often known as the “The Lost City of the Incas.” Machu Picchu consists of the Room of the Three Windows, the Temple of the Sun, and the Intihuatana Stone, which is said to be an astronomical clock. When it was built, Machu Picchu was used for about 100 years and then was suddenly abandoned. Despite the destruction and plunder that the Spanish conquistadors brought to the region, Machu Picchu remained very well hidden and it wasn’t until 1911 that the location was discovered by Hiram Bingham.
