Nas Releases New Track “Daughters,” Baby Mama Carmen Isn’t Feeling It

April 27th, 2012 - By Veronica Wells

Nasty Nas is back ya’ll!  The Queens bred MC recently released a new track about and in honor of his daughter, Destiny. The song “Daughters,” is essentially about the perils of being a father to a growing girl. Being the true lyricist that he is, Nas paints a pretty clear picture that fathers, daughters and women who’ve observed a daddy-daughter relationship can all relate to. It’s quite nice. But not everybody felt that way. Carmen, Destiny’s mother wasn’t feeling it. She claimed that Nas didn’t portray their daughter in a truthful light. Of course she took to Twitter to express her frustrations.

Just heard “Daughters” by Nas. What a disappointment! He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false!

…perhaps her father should be talking to her and spending more time with her so he can really get to know her.

…Destiny will be 18 in 2 months. Over it!

When someone asked her what exactly she didn’t like about the song she was kind of vague.

Ques? do u really think Destiny appreciated that song? Seriously…..Destiny is still a child-it was the wrong platform.

…he’s not speaking on it-he’s rapping about it. There’s a huge difference and I don’t respect it.

Destiny is extremely talented, caring and has a huge heart, none of those things were mentioned. I’m proud of her.

…okay, Carmen.

Either way, don’t let her dissuade you from checking out the song. We’re feeling it.

So what do you think of the track? Does Carmen have a right to be offended?

Her skankiness was no better than Superhead’s

Okay, now I can’t wait to get off work so I can listen to this track… I love Nas! I read the lyrics and didn’t see anything wrong, but I guess. Carmen may be looking for attention, or she may be genuinely “defending” her daughter, because, like she said, Destiny hadn’t heard the song either, so it might have hurt her feelings to hear her father “airing her out” (in quotations because we know she really aired her own business)… But at the end of the day, Destiny is still a child! I’m sure Nas didn’t have any malice in his heart when he dropped the record, he was just trying to send his daugther, as well as father’s, a heartfelt message, and for that, I salute him!

Carmen needs to get off twitter & stop trying to get on reality shows.  She had no thoughts about Destiny’s feelings when she wrote “It’s No Secrete From Nas to Jay-z.”  She did not consider the affects that book would have on her daughter.  Destiny is on twitter talking about: quickies, using very inappropriate language, smoking weed & displaying condoms.  I get she is gong through that teenage/grown stage but she has to realize that she is Nas’ daughter and bloggers will put her on blast just because.

Nas spoke truth and criticized himself for not being there for his daughter at times.  Nas spoke about his lack of parenting by buying Destiny diamonds instead of given her discipline.  He spoke about wanting better for her and complimented her on being an honest kid.  This song seemed to be more about Nas lack of being a great parent than it was about DesitnyCarmen seems to want to approve of Destiny’s behavior and point the finger at Nas.  Carmen is definitely seeking attention & she is drawing unnecessary negative attention to this topic.

She’s just making a mountain out of a molehill.  If anything he’s talking more about what he could’ve/should’ve done better. What did she want, a song about how wonderful and perfect she is?

I liked the song, don’t see why she got mad about it. #attentionslore!

I think the song is hot!

She just wanted some attention. This song is really nice.
