You can barely get a receipt for a pack of gum today that isn’t two feet long because it comes with 4 coupons. We’re bombarded with them—constantly prompted to buy something new every time we just did. Sometimes, a coupon is like a blessing and it’s for just the thing you needed! But usually, they are more of a curse. Here’s why:

coupons should work with your budget and meal plans. Lots of stores have in store coupons you can load to a savings card now, which save you the time in coupon clipping. My local store sends me coupons that it tracks from my savings card so almost all those coupons tend to be aimed towards what I already buy. I never buy the paper, I use the on line coupons and print out only what I need and will use. I tend to do my ‘couponing’ while watching tv so I don’t really count this as time I could have spent doing something else, I count it as time spent doing two things at once. Anyone silly enough to buy something they wouldn’t normally buy just because they have a coupon shouldn’t be doing the shopping for the family. I tend to save anywhere from $30-$70(sometimes even more) per big shopping trip on my coupon and store card savings, so to me, that is more then worth a few minutes of my time.

this is the biggest crock of crap i’ve read on the internet in a while. it does not take days to clip coupons…it only takes my an hour & it only takes that long because i’m usually watching reruns of an old show and look up often. if not, it only takes about 20 min. second off: i purchase healthy items with my coupons such as: frozen veggies, cereal (i.e: honey bunches of oats & cherrios), and granola bars. most stores and in-store coupons for veggies (diff types) or some type of promo on any given day. just because you find it useless and a waste of time, dont publish your unfounded opionon on the internet. makes you look silly.

Stop being lazy and save money. In a recession the point is to save. Heathly food costs almost twice as much as regular food. You should buy in bulk at places like bj’s that do take outside coupons. Never give negative advice out of laziness because what you find as time consuming and a waste of energy someone whose thinking of a financial stability for their future won’t!

The biggest waste of time isn’t cutting the coupons,, it’s foolishly clicking onto a story trying to illustrate to me that something that saves money is somehow useless.

Cutting coupons takes an hour?? Well be thankful you’ve got that many coupons in your newspaper, or be upset that you’re so slow at doing something that should take 5 minutes.
