Visit a pink lake.
Lakes are usually blue, sometimes with a tinge of green, but in West Africa, you can see an amazing sight – a pink lake. Simply known as the Lac Rose, Pink Lake, or Lake Retba, this lake is located in Dakar and it is truly a sight to be seen. Naturally the lake gives off a pink-purple hue due to the high amounts of salt and cyanobacteria in the water. The high amounts of salt attract salt harvesters who are commonly at the lake. The color of the water chances depending on the time of day as well as where the sun is sitting in the sky.
