And Now A Word From Shaunie On The ‘Basketball Wives’ Controversy…

Through all the “Basketball Wives” hoopla that’s been going on this past week, we’ve heard from almost everyone but the queen B of the BBW pack, Shaunie O’Neal. Well she finally decided to issue a statement exclusively to Vibe on Jen’s fight with Nia and the lawsuit that was announced yesterday, and she basically gave a standard rose-colored glasses political speech. Here’s what she said:

“I’m extremely happy that ‘Basketball Wives’ continues to have another successful fourth season. As the ratings have been through the roof since our season opener, fans continue to tune into the lives of Evelyn, Tami, Jennifer, Royce, Suzie  and myself. As there is always controversy and indifference projected on the show, because we are all individual personalities, I always hope that people will find that as much as you may agree or disagree with the opinions, the behavior, [and] even our different taste in shoes, you are taking a look inside the lives of four complete different women. I will never say I agree with some of the behavior between my girlfriends on the show, but if we were to edit certain things out the show would be scripted and not reality.

As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support.”

I wish she would speak in specifics for once but I guess that’s how she stays out of drama (and keeps the checks rolling in). So ladies, can she count on you for your continued support?

    OOOHHH, Evelyn gets under my skin so bad. A GROWN @$$ WOMAN taking her shoes off to jump on top of a table. RATCHET & a hot mess. DAMN I WISH SOMEONE would kick her @$$!! and Tami isn’t even my girl ANYMORE!! HER & EVELYN act like F$%^&NG CHILDREN, OR WORSE!!

    I think Shaunie is full of it and people need to stop watching this foolishness.  Like the person in the previous comment below, none of them are not even wives.  The show should be called basketball exes. It is a bunch of bitter and disgruntled women as well as two faced women who fights all the time.

      I agree. think this is it for me. After seeing Shaunie and Tami egging and Evelyn is biopolar and is talking about Jen when she was talking about Royce and Suzie last few seasons. If Shaunie don’t address Evelyn about this mess. I am out and I hope Jen leaves the show also. Who wants to put up with this mess

    This is a mother and she is trying to defend this travesty.  This show and the other Housewives show is indefensible.  Young black children have this to look forward to for entertainment.  The harm is being done to them. You can not respect this woman or any of the other characters on these shows .  African American mothers should boycott this type of buffoonery for the sake of their children.

    AND I AM FREAKIN TIRED of everyone using Jen for target practice just because they know she’s not a fighter. It’s childish as HELL!! AND SOOOO DAMN Annoying. Stop hating on a fly B%^&H! It’s a bad look.

    I have never watched the show. However I do remember reading the article in Essence magazine years back featuring Shaunie O’neal and she mentioned the idea for basketball wives.  I actually thought it was a good idea for a show. I did wonder which big name basketball players would agree with their wives participating. Now we know. None.

      You’re not missing anything. The first 2 seasons were okay. Since then AND TAMI HAVING TO SMACK UP Evelyn, nothing but DRAMA HAS OCCURRED. Seriously. It’s actually ridiculous to see these women sometimes. They might as well be the YOUNG CHICKS from Bad Girls Club. At least they are still young party girls. EVELYN IS SO F#$%ING RIDICULOUS it’s a shame. And I wish ONE OF THESE OTHER WOMEN would be woman enough to tell her. Namely Shaunie. She always just sits back and soaks up everything, but NEVER EVER really voices her opinion. AND SHE SHOULD! Hell it’s her show, so she NEEDS TO CHECK THAT B#$%H!!

        Yes in deed. I think Jenifer should take Evelyn’s new car along with her,Tami and Shaunie’s check from this season. Not making fun but Tami should really think about the heart attack she just had. she can’t in all fairness think that stuff Evelyn was doing was right and she and Shaunie kept egging it on. And the Nia dummy is so stupid that I can’t think of anything else to say about her.
