    It is a rare thing for people to read and understand their own health insurance.  They expect the doctor they see to know and advise them.  Bad move.  He/she doesn’t know.  It is your problem, not the doctors’.  I see more of our patients coming in with HUGE deductibles–like $5,000 deductibles.  What they failed to grasp is that their insrance only pays for catastrophic care.  You have to pay the first $5,000, so it won’t pay for your routine doctor visits.  Be prepared to pay–even if you get cancer, you still have to pony up the first $5 grand.
