You Spread Yourself too Thin

Everyone has their own stress and drama. Some people have more on their plate than others. Sometimes their plates are full with their own life issues, but other times they can become full with other people’s problems. It is nice to help out a friend, that’s what friends are for. But when you go from helping friends to helping co-workers and even neighbors, you have taken too much on. Maybe next time stop to evaluate your own life before you agree to take on 10 other things for someone else.

As a perpetual giver I can relate to alot of the points in the article and I used to feel resentment towards the people I helped for not being there for me when I needed them, but then I realized the reason my friends don’t help me is because I don’t ask for help. Takers have NO problems taking, but givers don’t ask for help as easily and unfortunately we unrealistically expect others to behave exactly as we behave.

      Yes, I totally agree.

I’m definitely a giver to the point of being in debt both mentally & financially.  And who’s there for me—no one on Earth.  This was a very good article–thanks.

The people who usually say they are this really are not.

I am in the same boat. But when I do try to talk about what I’m going through they listen for a second then start talking about their problems, leaving me with unresolved issues…I am learning though, which is a very good thing.

This is exactly what I’m experiencing right now.  It’s a lonely place to be too.  I help people out of the goodness of my heart, and now that I’m going through some things I don’t have anyone around to help me and it sucks.

That’s my same problem also…. No one here for me….

The story of my life…thanks for the article. Definitely in need of an alternate perspective other than my own.
