Say It Ain’t So: Toni To Leave ‘Braxton Family Values’?!

When you watch the “Braxton Family  Values” on TV you get the vibe that Toni is a little bit over the pressure to have to carry her sisters to success on her back. From her aversion to a Braxton sister’s album and wanting to maintain a solo act, to her increasingly smaller role on their reality show, Toni might just be over the whole “we are family” thing.

That’s pretty much what she confirmed on the second season reunion special that aired last night. Wendy Williams asked Toni why we’d seen so much less of her during episodes and she basically said she’s tired of being followed by cameras.

“It is extremely invasive,” Toni said. “Everywhere you go in your life is ‘there,’ and for me, I don’t like that.”

“Over time you forget that the cameras are there, and then you become completely open and … you’re exposed.”

Speaking on season 3 of the show, Wendy Williams asked if Toni will now be seen maybe 10 percent of the time now and, Toni responded, “Or zero percent.”

Of course Tamar let out a resounding “no” and said “‘The Braxtons’ is not ‘The Braxtons’ without Toni” but Toni didn’t look like she was hearing it.

I actually think the show could survive without Toni but now that Tamar and Vince are getting their own spin-off, she might fill everyone’s Braxton craving on her own show and people won’t really care what Traci, Trina, and Towanda are doing.

What do you think? Can the show go on without Toni?

And who knows, maybe she wants to go so that she can focus back on her music alone? She did just release a video for her new track, “I Heart You.” What do you think? Pass or play?

    Why when people file for bankruptcy , everyone think the person is broke.  From Toni’s mouth the filling worked out great for her.  His Donald Trump broke? even though he filed 4 times.  Toni never wanted to do reality show but did it mainly for Tamar , who wanted to do it from 2008.  The show cannot survive without Toni and the sister knows it, because all the sister represent someone.  A lot of persons are tired of Tamar and now she has her own show it will make it worst.  Not everyone like the extra drama. I dont know why people feel that Toni is threatened by her sisters, when Toni is an International Star and the sister are only know for reality show to-date.  Realty shows does not last so the sister better wise up quickly and do something with their lives.  Trina has stated, the rest need to get going.

    I love Toni… she did not appear much in the second season and I missed her. And I hate that people talk negative about her like she boring and what not just because she is no a drama queen or a spoiled brat and does not want to expose all her bussiness… I understand she wants her space from the camera and her family. I hope she will come back but if she do not appear on the next season I would understnd. I may watch if she is no longer on the show but it will not be the same. Tamar is cool but for me her act is getting tired and fake. I don’t think she is being herself I think its an act for the show because she showed a little bit of a different side on the reunion.

    Toni doesn’t need to be on the show.. she executive produces the show.. she still will get money as a producer anyway.. I like ALL the women on the show in their own merits.. I don’t think that Tamar can carry it by herself.  Although she is beautiful, funny and, over the top.. she can do way too much.. I love everyone.. Trina, Towanda, Traci and, Mommy.. I think they all bring something to the show and without any of them it wouldn’t be the same.

      i agree, however, It is time that Toni leaves the show because it is bringing her quality down, as the major talented star that we know… The only reason I liked the show is because they seemed to be more authentic, and not fake like these other reality shows. They relate the same as my sisters and I do!!! Especially in the 1st season. But now this 2nd season they don went hollywood, always is in full make up, when they weren’t looking like that in the begining. Toni was not wearing that wig, all the time. Before she was just being herself, with her natural short hair, which is so beautiful on her,  now they are competing against each other, trying to out do each other… And Im sooooo tired of Tamar, Im mean all that ebonix is sooo demeaning! She looks foolish, it over the top!!! Her husband is just as tired, he looks so irritated with her. I would be too! They have a strange relationship, as if they were brother and sister! I really dont think there relationship is real,

    Tamar and Vince have been given the red light for their own show according to JET magazine.

    This is my personal opinion so please don’t go to HAM on me… I think Toni  is slightly JEALOUS of her sister Tamar. I  think that is the real reason she doesn’t want to be on the show. I think she thought the show was going to upstart her career again and she would be the more famous sister (as  she is) but what she didn’t expect was Tamar to become our favorite and to get her spin off show and to get her career going.  I like all of the Braxtons and believe Ms Evelyn and their father raised them ALL well. I don’t think it would really be a problem if Toni wasn’t on the show bc she is barely on there now and when is there she seems so distant. I think about when the sisters went on vacation and she stayed and got pampered the entire day.. Really? Who does that? I mean she can’t say she is a private person bc she had the cameras in there while she is getting massaged and you are naked so what’s really her motives? Seems a bit jealous to me…I wish all the Braxtons much success though!

      I thought I was the only one who thought that. They went on a sisters retreat and she wouldn’t even be “sisterly.” I felt like she was kinda snotty with all of her sisters AND her mother too. But IMHO, I didn’t miss her on the shows she wasn’t on. I also didn’t like the way she talked to Traci when she told her to lose 30-40 pounds. First of all, Traci is not that big and if she lost that much weight, she’d look anorexic. AND she kept calling Traci “cute”. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d be offended if someone called my grown a@@ “cute.” Or maybe she was thinking that was her little sister and she’s still cute to her. I don’t know. But Toni came across to me as a diva – she couldn’t even lotion her own arms.

        That comment about her sister’s weight disturbed me, too. The exercise was to tell your sister something that the sister is doing that AFFECTS the dynamics of the sisterly relationship.   Traci’s weight isn’t something that DOES or SHOULD affect Toni’s relationship with her.  As Traci stated, she knows she’s pretty.  She didn’t need her big sister to reiterate that to her. Also, Traci will lose the weight when she is comfortable doing so and no one should take that as a reason why their sisterly bond is a mess.

       The realty show was all Tamar’s idea, and the ratings is not all that great , it is good but has not increase as they taught it would.  You should watch “inside out of Toni” on you tube.  That a realty show

      Well, Toni did mention that with her Lupus condition, being out in the sun for a long period of time can trigger an attack, which is why she went to the spa to relax instead.   I do wish she would have been there with her sisters, because they had a BALL! LOL! However, with all the physical aliments that Toni has now, she has to limit herself to certain activities.  Doctors told her she would never be able to perform again after her heart disease operation, but she is still at  it!

    1- Because of Toni’s illness we rarely saw her so the sister’s made the show their own anyway. 2- At this stage in the game, I think Toni is delusional to think she can survival without her family.  She is no longer an A-list celebrity.  When you watched the show and watched the venues she performed in, it was low rate.  Without Babyface writing for her and marinating her signature sound, she would do well to market the demographic that watch the show and use it to her advantage and diversify her market to younger audiences.  

    My daughters had never heard of her and I had to go to Youtube and show them her phenomenal talent. When she was in Vegas she did a good job, but her illness derailed the effort.  Dancing with the Stars did not showcase her vocal talent but introduced her to a new mainstream audience.  The Braxton Family Value showed have increased her fans desire for her music and not Tamar.  

    A Gospel album is not a death sentence for an R/B artist.

      Personally, I think she can benefit from the reality show as a marketing tool for her new album coming out.  On the one hand, it can help by attracting new fans to her music.  On the other hand, if her health is consistently compromised, I would have to reconsider how important it would be in the long run.  Since she mentioned that health-wise, it would/could become an issue, I’d rather her take better care of herself, than to risk her life to be on TV.

    I’m not surprised…I think that she is threatened by the idea of not being the ONLY superstar and is hoping that her leaving the show will lead to less viewers. She already fired her manager who is winning right now because he’s Tamar’s husband-I think she didn’t want him to invest more time into her sister’s career than her’s…I just get a real negative vibe from her after watching two seasons of this show

      She blames her sister for her demise, but she is at fault.  Now that she will be at the wheel, let’s see who she will blame this time.

    I like Toni and I’m glad she’s leaving the show it’s a train wreck love your family but no need to ruin your career and with any show like this after a while it cheapens and you become a joke or you become cheap . Besides it’s clearly not what you want.
    She helped now move on to what she wants to do. Yes Tamar was bucking for a show and now she’s got one, I hope she knows what she’s getting into it doesn’t seem like Vince is into the invasion but more power to them. As for the other sisters find what you like and do it time to get independent and fly away.

      Toni’s career was in limbo before the show aired. After Babyface stopped writing for her, her songs tanked.  Her music went from classy to WTF  is she singing.  I needed an interpreter to understand all the mumbling.

    I love Toni but I thought she was the most boring sister of all so I don’t think I would care if she was on the show or not. It does seem odd that she claims to be in such dire straights when it comes to money but would turn done a paying job but what do I know.

    I knew that would happen.  She was on each episode for less than 3 minutes.  She’s a musician at heart and if it comes to choosing TV or music, she’ll always choose music.

      She should opt to being a spokesperson for Autism and Heart disease.  She is credible, has name recognition and experience.

        She was recently named Global Ambassador of Autism Speaks.  She deserved that honor! That’s a big deal!

    Well she is hardly on there anyway, so I don’t think it would make much difference. I really enjoy this show and I like them all. But like someone said she does not need to be eliminating any checks … lol …

         Filing for bankruptcy does not mean you are broke. People really need to educate themselves.

    I like her, but I like all of them now.  I’d watch without her.  But um, keeping it 100, she know she need that check.

    Sad to say because I am a HUGE Mega Fan of Ms. Toni Braxton but the truth of it is that YES the show can NOW survive without her ONLY because Tamar has now made a name for herself — she is the drama piece on the show; now if and when Tamar gets her own show then it’s a WRAP.
