Allen Iverson Says No to Divorce Because He’s Still Getting It On With His Wife

Poor Allen, he just doesn’t have a clue. If a divorce petition could be thrown out because the people involved were still sleeping together, America probably wouldn’t have a 50 percent divorce rate right now. But nevertheless, the former NBA player says his wife’s divorce filing should be null and void based on those grounds.

According to TMZ, last week Allen filed a motion to dismiss his pending divorce case, claiming he and his wife Tawanna had temporarily reconciled from November 2011 to February 2012 and had “resumed their marital relationship, cohabiting, having relations and holding themselves out as husband and wife.” In his mind, knocking the boots means their marriage isn’t “irretrievably broken,” as she claimed.

Now before you get all mushy thinking this is a man trying to save his relationship and family, TMZ speculates this could just be a move by Allen to avoid having to pay child support—SMH. Considering we’re talking about a man who put buying jewelry he couldn’t afford before feeding his family, I’m thinking they’re on to something. It’s cute he thinks sex changes divorce though.

What do you think about Allen’s legal move? Does he have a point or is he just trying to save his wallet?

    American DOESN’T have a 50 percent divorce rate, and never has.  The highest the divorce rate has even been is about 32 percent.  Yes, there are ~2.8 million marriages a year, and ~1.4 divorces (i.e., half as many), but that doesn’t make a 50 percent divorce rate . . . because it ignores the 63 million marriages that neither began nor ended that year.  A divorce rate is total divorces divided by total marriages . . . and that topped out at 32 percent (basically 1 in 3) a few years ago and is now at about 28 percent . . . basically 1 n 4.  It’s never been anywhere near 1 in 2.

    In my opinion……..Chuck can’t sleep with Twanna if she didn’t first want to or let him.  So for all of those that have something to say……people that aren’t famous are doing this everyday, so why is Chuck and Twanna being scrutinized for it?  And to say that he bought jewelry that he couldn’t afford instead of feeding his family is just ludacris.  Just because he HASN’T paid for it doesn’t mean HE CAN’T pay for it.  Stop hating and posting STUPID articles about people that have more money than you!!!

    Divorce should always be the absolute last option especially if kids are involved.  Who cares what I think, I don’t care what his motives are, to busy living my life.

    In MD you canNOT have relations with your spouse if you are in divorce proceedings.  You can’t live together, have sex, etc, 1 year b4 prior to your filing for divorce.  You also have to bring a witness to testify that you haven’t been sleeping or living together.

    Sex is just that SEX!!  People have sex with their EX everyday, it doesn’t mean that she/he wants to get back together.  Maybe that’s all they have in common .. SEX!!!  Lol .. he’s a lousy husband, but good in the sack :) .. hey .. it happens :)

    Actually, in many states all the reasons Iverson has listed above are valid reason to deny a divorce petition.  Many states insist that the spouses live apart for one year without resuming marital relations.  A small lapse will generally be overlooked but if they did actually get back together for any length of time his petition may be valid.  It may at the very least mean they have to start their separation period over again.  Just depends on the state.

    i have a friend whose parents divorced when she was 10, put she would have breakfast with her father every saturday and sunday morning – thru the age of 24, because her father would spend friday and saturday night with her mother – i guess it works for some people
