Discussion of the Day: Would You Give The Ring Back?

August 11th, 2010 - By madamenoire

Lyfe Jennings talked it up with us and our sister site, Bossip, and was very open about relationships, defining your character and how to find a good man/woman.But when it comes to his previous engagement, that’s when the drama came out.

Apparently the R&B singer was so in love with his ex that when he asked her to marry him, he popped the question with a $100,000 Tiffany engagement ring. Too bad things didn’t work out and the couple never walked down the aisle.

The woman refused to return the ring!!

What do you think about that? Is an engagement ring a gift? Or is it a promise, that is broken along with the engagement? I saw an episode of “Judge Judy,” where she ruled that the engagement ring is a contract for the wedding. No wedding means the contract is voided and ring must be returned!

So when it comes to broken engagements, who keeps the ring?

NO black woman is going to give a ring back. They don’t have enough PRIDE to do something like that. http://tinyurl.com/2achdc8 If it doesn’t work out past the proposal, a black woman is going to keep the ring because it’s legitimate “bling” and not that gold and diamond PLATED stuff she usually wears.
