Brooklyn Teacher Saves Woman’s Life, Gets the Middle Finger as a Thank You

Most people would be happy if they were found lifeless on a bathroom floor and someone resuscitated them because, you know, they saved their life, but not a suspected overdose victim who was rescued by a Brooklyn teacher during her lunch break today.

Cassandra Byrd-Scolaro was heading to the bathroom inside the S&B Restaurant in Williamsburg today when she and another waitress saw a woman lying unconscious on the floor. That’s when the teacher sprang into action.

“We pulled her out of the bathroom,” Byrd-Scolaro said. “She wasn’t breathing. She had no pulse. I immediately began giving her compressions.”

About three minutes later, Emergency Medical Services arrived and the woman began breathing and her heart started back beating. Everyone around was relived that the woman was OK and inspired by Byrd-Scolaro’s heroism—except for the victim. Instead, when she came to she flipped her middle finger at the teacher and the EMS workers. Ungrateful much?

The victim’s reaction is what caused news reporters to suspect an intentional drug overdose, but despite the woman’s response, Ms. Byrd-Scolaro says she’s happy she was there to help.

“It was a great feeling,” she told the NY Daily News before heading back to teach her afternoon classes.

As a token of appreciation, the chicken caeser wrap the teacher ordered was given to her by the restaurant for free.

total racism. i already know because we have sooo many midwest whites moving here and they are racist. but the blacks do not want to address the elephant in the room. she was on drugs and the black woman saved her. she flipped a finger to her as if to let her know she did not want a black person to help her. if it was me. she would have gotten her wish

Well, Stupid, if you wanted to die, you shouldn’t have gone to a restaurant during lunch rush, to do it.

  • RenJennM

That teacher’s good because I would’ve socked that b**** in the face for flipping me off after saving her life. She’s got some nerve! Shoo, I’ve got anger problems; people can’t just flip off anybody! lol

  • NoahsMommy

She should have written a note saying “DO NOT RESUSCITATE” and stapled it to her chest.  Or, she could have attempted suicide like normal people do…in the privacy of their own home!  How rude! LOL

    • FromUR2UB

Yeah!  She should have given her another overdose. Heeheehee!  Just kidding.

  • GE918

The teacher  didn’t perform mouth to mouth she did chest compressions. Its been determine that chest compressions only is as effective as mouth to mouth with compressions.

What an inconsiderate heffa! She was trying to commit suicide, but how was the teacher that helped her supposed to have known that. She did the right thing. I guess next time, she will leave a note by her body for no one to try to save her inconsiderate butt!!!!

  • Live_in_LDN

Maybe she was trying to commit suicide?

    • Hiveship99

I think she was too. I hope the woman gets the mental health she needs.

Hope she got a free lunch or something for that… That lady would have died if it was me,the most I would have done was call the police and wait. I would NEVER perform mouth to mouth on a stranger much less a drug addict in a rest room.

When you do CPR now you don’t do breathing only compressions, it said she did compressions in the article.

    • sweettea

Yup no more rescue breathing. Its too risky and not very effective

    • Diso98

she DID get her lunch free. It’s written there at the end

yes, i’d actually like to hear about a black woman like the teacher. the only ones we ever hear about are the ones like the unconcious woman.

How noble of the teacher to still have been grateful despite the response from the victim.

    • Gimmeabreak78

She’s probably used to it as a teacher.  She probably puts in tireless hours for ungrateful kids and uncooperative parents who just see her as a glorified babysitter.  More power to her.  I don’t think I would have had her level of composure under those circumstances.
