so I guess I shoulda believed the email from the Nigerian business man afterall!

Except for Oprah Winfrey, these are wealthy African Billionaires — as in they are either natives of Africa or from surrounding countries (not the United States). If you are going to paint them with a broad brush and use the term “black” to describe these wealthy entrepreneurs then capitalize the “B.” Black — with the b lowercase — is not an ethnicity, it’s an adjective.

But thank you for pointing out that there are people of color who are indeed successful outside of entertainment.

Africa is a continent..if I read the list right then all the men where from different countries in the continent of Africa…sometimes we are so eager to point out flaws in others and we leave our flaws exposed…I know of no countries that “surround” the Continent of Africa

      • Terrell Fisher

There’s certainly a grammatical flaw in your writing — is it “where” or “were” or “are”? Tsk,Tsk. Sometimes we are so eager to point out flaws in others and we leave our flaws exposed. Nobody’s perfect.

    Only six? Damn!

BLACK Billionaires or AFRICAN Billionaires? I’m pretty sure the South African, Nigerian, Sudanese, etc. billionaires don’t refer to themselves as Black…..we have Oprah. That’s it. Cut the list at 1 Black Billionaire, because that’s all we have…

    • L-Boogie

What is wrong with referring to these men as Black?  Is that derogatory? Please respond.

    • msceo

that refers to their geographical location/homes but they are all black.  black is black, period.

      • Rodriguez

Of course they are Black and that list will only grow longer with time. However, have never seen a Puerto Rican on the list though, some Latinos but no Puerto Ricans…big difference.

        • Kwesi

Big difference… I don’t think so. Black is black no need for that divisive stuff.

  • Pringles

Notice how most of these people are overseas!! Rich and wealthy are two different things when it comes to geographical regions

  • L-Boogie

That is smart.  Most of these billionaires are in businesses that focus on mineral extraction and telecommunications.  Get it!
