Willow Smith Goes Green

March 5th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

No, we’re not talking about environmentally friendly behavior. Willow Smith has continued her trend of switching up her hair faster than Beyonce dropped videos for the tracks on her last album by debuting a bright green mane. Just last week, Willow declared “Nerds rule” with her blonde fade, now she insists, “Even though I am small… I do big things,” and that big thing is rocking green hair.

We’ve probably debated the topic of her adolescent expression to death but one thing we haven’t touched on is hair care. As blogger Miss Jia pointed out when Willow showed off her blonde look last week, “No one is immune to the ‘no edges’ struggle,” meaning if Willow—and the expensive beauticians she has access too—aren’t paying attention to all the peroxides and chemicals they’re putting in this child’s head, it could be a wrap for her tresses later on. We’ve read enough relaxed-too-young stories to know the damage these substances can do. But we’re sure the Smith’s have it under control…right?

What’s your take on Willow’s early St. Patty’s day look? Yay or nay?

Please leave this little girl alone. She is having fun with her hair and being expressive. It could be a dye that is not harsh, and not causing damage to her scalp. Also, hair is just dead cells. We call it healthy or not healthy, but really- it’s dead anyway. Also, why are people so concerned about dye and not about relaxer? If her parents were relaxing her hair and putting sodium hydroxide on her head, would they get as much flack? Let Willow be Willow.

She could be using spray on dye. Or the much safer but weirder kool-aid treatments,  lol. Won’t fry your hair but very hard to get out. As it is, she’s doing what i wanted to at that age, experiment with her hair. I wasn’t allowed to cut it or dye it back then. And now I’m afraid to,lol. Here i am taking a lesson from a preteen.

Her hair is so short maybe that’s the reason she’s keeping that way so she could express herself, but I do agree for her age is a little too extreme but really what’s the difference between other 11 years old with a relaxer and the others who are getting their hair pressed every week, shoot I should know because I was that 11 year old girl. When I first decided to grow out the relaxer, I shaved my head just like her and I was rocking a hot red hair, yes color can damage your hair and scalp but in my case relaxer nor color never damage my hair. When I got tired of coloring, and never let my hair grow anyway all I had to do was shave my little short fro out and start new. Hair do grow back so if it is damage all you have to is cut and regrow it.

You know the first thing I noticed when I saw these pics last night? Her shorts.  They are way too short for an 11 year old and just b/c she appears to be tall (or at the very least, just has long legs) it doesn’t mean she shouldn’t wear an “appropriate” length. I just really don’t like that. But REALLY? HEr parents are the ones that allow this so…

This is what happens when you leave an infant alone in the spotlight.

How do we know it’s dye? It could be the spray paint color that seems to be popular with kids these days.

    I say nay…

I agree with everybody else that it is not good for her hair. I think that it is good that she wants to enjoy being a kid while having fun and expressing herself through these different changes, but also I think that she needs to tone it down a bit.

    Where are her parents?!

She looks cute and I think it’s great that she doesn’t take her hair so seriously!

She is a beautiful little girl, but my opinion is that she looks way to grown for her age. The hair coloring is also harmful to the hair and scalp.

Im with IMANSARAY23….I dont have a problem with kids expressing themselves creatively. But it has to be done safely. All this radical hair dyeing and, esp without a rest period between colours is harsh on the hair and scalp. i wouldnt recommend this for an adult never mind an 11 year old.

Will someone give this little girl some attention…positive attention. I’m about sick of her…

  • Imansaray23

all that hair dying she is doing is gonna maker bald
