Traci’s Still Trying to Get Over Being the Braxton Family Outcast
Anyone who watches “Braxton Family Values” can tell there are the Braxton sisters and then there’s Traci. While Trina, Toni, Towanda, and Tamar live their lives as entertainers in LA and Atlanta, Traci has lived the quiet suburban life as a mother and wife in Maryland and she’s made it painfully obvious that she resents her sisters for it.
Every week we see her make a snide remark or get depressed about not singing backup for Toni, but in a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister, Traci said she’s trying to get over it.
“I think it’s getting better because I expressed how I felt,” she said. “They probably felt, ‘Traci had a child and she just went ahead on with her life and she didn’t press the issue about being with the sisters.
“I wouldn’t change having my son. He’s the best thing since sliced bread. I think I would have fought harder to stay with the Braxtons and continue my singing career. After I had my son, I didn’t sing anymore. I would have fought harder for my career.”
At least she’s finally taking some responsibility for the part she played in her future. Traci’s not only the outcast in terms of career though, her sisters recently tried to put her own blast for her weight as well. Although Traci didn’t take their “concern” too well at first, she eventually decided they were right.
“I was always the skinny one. I was the tallest and skinny sister. When I gained the weight, they were like, ‘Hold up. What’s going on?’ Toni was saying they weren’t used to me being that size. We’re not from that side of the track of the weight and things.
“When I put that all in perspective, they weren’t telling me anything wrong, but when you gain weight and are looking totally different, you tend to have a little snapperism. When they really sat down with me, I appreciated that.”
Now, after taking dance class and Zumba, Traci has slimmed down from a size 10 to a 6 or 8 which she says is “comfortable” for her.
Despite the arguments the sisters have onscreen, Traci insists their family won’t end up like other reality TV stars who’s real-life relationships suffer once the cameras stop rolling.
“We’re taking more consideration for each other’s feelings, but we’re still going to love hard and argue just as harder. That’s what family members do. We’re going to say how we really feel.”
Do you think the Braxton sisters pick on Traci too much or is it time for her to get over it and stop being so sensitive?
