Why You Should Honeymoon in Africa

February 27th, 2012 - By MN Editor

From Black Voices

In a recent discussion with a family friend who got engaged over the holidays, the topic of honeymoons arose. She mentioned that her honeymoon, aside from walking down the aisle, was one thing she was truly looking forward to. As far as locations, she was contemplating Italy or Thailand. Very different locations, but both within her budget. After asking her if she’d consider honeymooning in Africa, I was shocked to hear her response. She quickly dismissed the idea, claiming that it would be too much of a hassle and well beyond her budget. Simply put, she just wasn’t interested in the idea of traveling to Africa.

Africa is really nice depending on where you go. I traveled to West Africa and it was nice, however, it was costly. The thing is, because so many other places are traditionally seen as honeymoon or vacation  destinations.they cater to tourists thus allowing you to get so many deals and discounts. Many different parts of Africa are tourists havens, but you really have to know what you are looking for and weight the cost against your expectations and plans for fun. On RHOA it did seem boring, but that was them. They went on a safari and didn’t even enjoy the wildlife because they were talking while the tour guide pointed out things. On my trip I saw a lot of educational things because that’s what I went for. I saw some of the slave trails. the country side, the sea, and the village life. I also saw the vibrant nightlife of the clubs and other areas. I was only out of about 5k for 3 wks and that was because I knew someone there and didn’t have to pay for room. If you really want the beach area and more of a taste of western style vacations i.e. shopping, sunning, lounging, and others then somewhere like Kenya on the coast or parts of South Africa would be great. These places have lots of 5 and 6 star resorts.

When the RHOA went to Africa it looked boring as h*ll. That bothered me because I expected more. I mean they gotta have beaches up in there. They gotta have museums and fashion shows or something!!  All they did the whole frickin episode was look at animals in the wild. That annoyed me because with all of Africas wealth it has to be so much more.

Africa has all that. Have you ever thought that the producers have an agenda not showing the real beauty of Africa???

      • RHoafan

Duh! Why do you think I said I was disappointed? Why do you think I said it must have all that and then more? Did I say I was disappointed with Africa or the RHOA show? Go back and read it. Reading comprehension is a good thing.
