MN: Tell us, what are you currently working on?
AS:Hmm, where to start? So many projects going on (laughing)! Of course, my baby Pastry, also my sister Vanessa and I just launched a website AngelaandVanessa.com! I’m very excited about that.
MN: What’s this website for and about?
AS: We have been playing around with the idea for a while and it finally came to life. The site is a fun way for our fans to keep us with us. We give them a sneak peak into our personal lives, while chatting about clothes, fashion, health, and beauty! All the things girls love! It’s basically an online community for girl talk.
MN: That sounds fun and innovative and you seem to be very passionate about it! What are some of your other passions?
AS: Philanthropy and Fashion! I love, love , love fashion – everything about it! I can’t get enough of it! Philanthropy is very important to me as well. I spend a huge chunk of my time working with PETA and the Children’s Miracle Network. I believe that everyone, if possible should choose a philanthropic cause and dedicate some time to it. A little bit of your time can make a significant impact in the lives of others or on the world.
MN: Agreed! Philanthropy is like chicken soup for the soul! Let’s talk more about fashion! You have become quite the fashionista, can we expect a line from you soon?
AS: Yes, you can! Very soon! I don’t have an exact date yet, but I’m working on a fashion line that will exude my sense of style. The line will be couture and high-end. It’s a dream of mine to see my line on runways during Fashion Week! I also have hair line I’m working on! I’m obsessed with all things beauty and fashion, so I will continue to dig my hand in those pots.
MN: Wow, that’s ambitious of you! Entrepreneurship runs in your family, so you are fortunate to have the examples and resources to pursue your goals. What advice would you give to others who aren’t as fortunate?
AS: First off and most importantly, remember that nothing is impossible. I would say start at the bottom and build up. You must be passionate about what you are doing. Passion is the driving force behind hard work. There are so many resources available now due to the internet..start there..start a blog..starting online may be best way to do it! And remember passion takes you many places where money won’t!
MN: Who are some business women (or men) that inspire you?
AS: Beyoncé! I’ve seen her build her career from the ground up. She went from being Destiny’s Child group member to one of the most prominent entertainers in the world, while still remaining a great and humble person. My Aunt Kimora. She’s a business women, mother and fashionista. She manages it all, almost effortlessly – that’s admirable.
MN: Both of those ladies are amazing and I’m sure they can attribute a majority of their success to being workaholics. Would you say the same about yourself?
AS: Definitely. Growing up watching my Dad and Uncle Russell’s work ethic naturally rubbed off on me. Their work ethic is insanely rigorous. I was always told that I can go for anything and hard work and passion will take me there.
MN: Any words of wisdom you want to leave MN readers with?
AS: My dad always told me: D0 your best, forget the rest. I live my life by that. Also, If I’m not trying my hardest, I’m not expecting success! So I make it a point to ALWAYS give my all and then some.
