 Rectangle

Traits: Your waist, hips, and shoulders have similar measurements. Your body shape is straight up and down.

Assets: You can get away with most outfits because of your slender frame!

Style options: Choosing styles that create curves is a great way to give the illusion of a curvier body. The best way is to create a defined waistline. Choose fitted tops or sweaters and wear belts that run across your midriff. Select dresses with an empire waist and choose skirt styles that are a-line. Boot-cut jeans and trouser style pants work best for you.

I wish I had an hourglass figure :(

I pretty much have an hourglass shape and forever I have been advised to wear v-necks. I did this for a while…but over the past couple of years I have found the absolute complete opposite… tops and dress that have a very squared off/high neckline (NOT POLO NECKS!) can be extremely flattering. With an hourglass figure its easy to look overtly sexy…afterall page 3/pin up girls/playboy/victoria secret models usually have an hourglass figure…you have to be careful not to look like you’re ‘trying’ to show off your busy. I find that with an hourglass figure there is already enough to feast the eyes – little waist, round bum etc… I feel that higher necklines are a lot more flattering….

Would be interested to hear if other hourglasses have found this too?

I too have an hourglass shape.  I wear v-necks, but they don’t plunge into my bust line and tend to be more exaggerated, showing more of the collar bone.  I find that a scoop anything, that covers the cleavage works for me as well.  Wearing a straight shirt that shows all of our collar bone is attractive too, just need the right place to wear it.
