Fine Tune: Men Who Could Sing To Us Anyday!

February 19, 2012  |

In the past, I’ve talked to women about having a man who can write poetry or sing and the general consensus is, “Yeah, no thanks…I don’t want anybody sitting around singing to me all day.” I get it but if you had any of the following men around your house, you wouldn’t ever want to hear them sing?

Check them out and let me know if you agree…

Musiq Soulchild

For years now, Musiq has been dropping album after album and they all have that one song on them that make you say, “Dag, I wish someone would say that to me.”  And he sounds good singing it too.

Eric Benet

With all his issues from the past and virtually every woman hating him for what he did to Halle, it’s nice to know that his light is beginning to shine brighter because of that voice. Have you ever seen Eric in concert? That man can GO.  He hits the lyrics on “Chocolate Legs” and the women turn it into another type of show!

Adam Levine

Now Adam is what many consider “blue eyed soul” and he’s cute too!  He has a real distinct sound that women seem to love. If you’re ever on the internet or around girlfriends while “The Voice” is on, just watch the reactions of all the women.

Anthony Hamilton

There is so much I could say about Anthony but the main thing is that he is arguably the best male R&B singer to step on the scene within the last…10 years.  He can sing anything and you feel every. Single. Word.  You think he sings to his wife on a regular basis?

Kem

If you’ve never seen Kem live, I suggest you get to the next music festival and get into him. He always sounds just like the album version of his songs (if not better) and you kind of feeling like he’s singing right to you.

Eric Roberson

Please tell me you know who he is?!  ERRO, as he’s affectionately called, has been on the scene for just over 10 years and he’s kept his movement strictly independent. His fan base is loyal and unwavering.  Look up his song “She” and tell me you don’t want to just marry him right now (I mean, if he weren’t already married).

Raphael Saadiq

From back in his days with “The Tonys,” we knew he was a star. Raph has never let us down, whether he wrote and/or produced it for someone else or he did it for himself.  His first solo album Instant Vintage is something you can play at any moment. My favorite song? “Skyy Can You Feel Me?”  Gotta love that Saadiq.

Luke James

Did you see Luke last week on the 2012 BET Honors? I hope so but if you didn’t, I’m saying that you need to jump on the bandwagon RIGHT NOW.  Here’s what’s funny to me: he’s a real pretty boy – almost modelesque – so you do not expect that singing voice to come out of his mouth. But when it does, you’re absolutely blown away. Right now, I have his mixtape on repeat and he’ll have an album out later this year. PLEASE don’t act like I didn’t tell you!

Robin Thicke

As the current president of “Blue Eyed Soul,” Robin continues to serve us real good music with such a sweet voice to go with it. I wonder if he used to sing little love songs to his wife Paula Patton when they were in high school. I could see that happening…and her laughing in his face because in high school that’s cute but embarrassing.

Stokley Williams

First, let’s give it up to Mint Condition who, last year, celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first album! Time moves so fast that I didn’t even realize it had been that long already. And who has always been the lead singer? That daggone Stokley Williams.  Stoke is dope because he always seems to put some “stank” on his songs. You always know Stokley’s voice when you hear it…and don’t you always just want to hear it?

  • Thanks for discussing your ideas. I’d personally also like to mention that video games have been at any time evolving. Today’s technology and innovations have aided create realistic and active games. These kind of entertainment games were not that sensible when the actual concept was first of all being experimented with. Just like other areas of know-how, video games also have had to progress by way of many ages. This is testimony towards fast progression of video games.

  • There a few intriguing points in time in this post but I do not know if every 1 of them center to heart. It is possible to discover some validity but I’ll take hold opinion until I explore it further. Excellent post , thanks so we want far more! Combined with FeedBurner too

  • Rae

Ooh all of your picks were on the money. two I have not heard but I’m gonna have to check them all out. You forgot about our beloved Maxwell Mmm Mmm Mmm

  • What happened to all the comments, MN?

  • FromUR2UB

I’m not a person who regularly listens to gospel music, but a good singer is a good singer, and a good song is a good song. Someone told me about a song called, ‘Well Done’ by Deitrick Haddon, and I love it. Afterward, I listened to some of his other songs on YouTube. He has recorded some secular songs too, but his gospel songs are better.

  • Mimi

Add Idris Elba to the list too! He could sing the alphabet and I would be HAPPY!

  • Shaybell30

Bruno mars should have made the list also.

  • Msmykimoto2u

I’ll take a Adam Levine, Anthony Hamilton, Kem, Maxwell, Tyrese, Robin Thicke, and one of those Usher Raymonds.   *heads to the check out line*

    • Msmykimoto2u

*Sends my little cousin back in the store to go pick me up a Brian Mcknight*

  • Uknowmyname1

OBVIOUSLY is missing from this list. ACT RIGHT, and add it!

  • C Tate1

Met him ..he wasn’t very nice ..maybe he was having a bad day

    • Msmykimoto2u

      Who wasn’t very nice?

  • JessTheBest

OMG!! You missed Tank, Maxwell, maybe Usher, maybe TreySongz…Raheem DeVaughn, Miguel, Brian McKnight, Babyface, Jahiem, Miguel, Ginuwine…
    I demand a review!! lol

  • FromUR2UB

This is a pretty decent list.  I’d forgotten about Eric Roberson.  That’s why I miss The Michael Baisden show on my local radio station, because he mixed the best of the new with oldies.

With the exception of Maxwell, some those named don’t belong on here.  I mean, really!  They aren’t that good.  And I couldn’t care less how a singer looks if I love the voice and music. Ex: nobody cared how Barry White looked.  When I listen to his music now, I think of Beethoven and other classical composers because he was that great.

Drenna, I’m looking for new music to listen to. It just occurred to me recently that most of the music I listen to, is by groups that disbanded years ago, and dead people.  I want to find more music by living people that is exciting enough to make me want to hear it over and over again (for you younger people, that’s the way we used to do it: play a record we liked until it wore out. Do you reaaaallly hit replay on Tyrese’s songs so they can start over again….hunh?).    Please do an article on relative unknowns who have great voices and use real musicians on their tracks.  Please, no weak-voiced people whose music is comprised of bad synthesizers, drum machines, boring lyrics and uninspiring melodies.

    • DrennaB

I’m looking for the same type of music for personal reasons because I am a TOTAL music snob. LOL!!  Let me see what I can do. 🙂

      • FromUR2UB

        Yippee!!

    • FromUR2UB

Oh yeah, Jaheim should have been on the list too, because I lub, lub, lub his voice!  There’s something very calming about it.

  • Elle8u

Joe should have been front and center on this list, it has no credence without him and Maxwell.

  • mrs.j.cole

maxwell and don’t forget about joe and ne-yo sometimes #coleworld no snuggie

  • Netdandri

Besides Eric Benet, where are the hot guys?

  • Netdandri

I expected this list to have more sexy on it. There are a lot of great musicians here, but not many sexy men. Where is Lenny, Maxwell, Trey Songs, Tyrese, Ginuwine, Tank, etc.?

  • adrienne michelle

am i the only one who remembers luke james from luke & q?? (google them or look them up on youtube) love this list

  • adrienne

am i the only one who remembers luke james from luke & q?? (google them or look them up on youtube?)

  • DrennaB

I said on our FB page, “I know they’re gonna kill me b/c I TOTALLY forgot Maxwell.” He truly was the last person I thought of to add to the list (just literally, not that he’d be the last person in terms of a on a scale of 1-10 thing). I definitely forgot to add him but I knew the story was about to go up so I’ll take that heat. *head down in shame*

Yes, this is a list that can go on and on and on! We do have some great singers out there!

    • Taviturner

      AWWWW I 4give u 😉

  • smarytpants

Hey.how come you didn’t include USHER?

  • Squeezablechic

You forgot Maxwell, Tank, Avant, Brian McKnight.

  • Jayda

Yay! So glad y’all put Luke James on the list! Love him!

  • Love

Maxwell, Tyrese, Mario, Musiq, Kem, Saadiq, Joe, Anthony Hamilton, and Babyface.

  • Alexandria128

    Where is Maxwell??????

  • Bcbruce22

Tyrese definitely should have been on there.

  • LisaLuvless

Dammmn… I’d like to remove Music Soulchild from my list and exchange him for Luke James. ..that pic is terrible.

  • Yea.. Maxwell is Most Certainly missing… for my money, I’d like to add Raheem DeVaughn, John Mayer, Paulo Nutini and Jessie Boykins III… Despite Mayer’s social faux pas, I still think he has an awesome voice and writes beautiful music.

    • Bcbruce22

I don’t know who Paulo Nutini is, but I support you on the rest of those men.

  • LisaLuvless

No No No No NO! Robin Thicke cannot sing in anything but his falsetto, which everybody is good at doing. Am I the only person who remembers when this guy came out in 2000.. Riding the bike with 00000000 swagg?! Come on folks.

You couldn’t put one good looking person on the list?? What are you 46? All these guys are old puhps and ugly. I would require the guy that’s going to sing to me all day look good and have the stamina to do it.
Adam Levine can’t perform at all, his movements are awkward, but I LOVED Maroon 5.

Here’s my list of guys I would love to sing to me
    Mario- the song “Never”
    Jesse Powell- “You”
Tyrese (with his shirt off)- heck anything… Do it :Big sean voice:
Eric Benet- “Love don’t love me”
Music Soulchild (with his shades on)-Love
    Ginuwine (ten years ago..maybe 15)- Pony..grinding involved.

    That’s just for now

    • Msmykimoto2u

Umm pleaase listen to “I wanna love you girl” by Robin Thicke. He does the Maxwell thing. Siging deep and sultry then falsetto. Super sexy.

  • Bcbruce22

Did you guys really not have Maxwell on this list?  REALLY??

    • LisaLuvless

      True story… Where’s Maxwell at???
      Adds him to my list..

    • Netdandri

      Exactly!

    • Jessofhearts

This is what I was thinkin’!! From Maxwell to Miguel alot of voices have been missed but I am happy with the choices 😀

    • Kim984b333bb3

My friend just met a black man on Blackwhitepassion.COMit’s where for men and women looking for interracial’ship for a fabulous lifestyle
It’s a nice place for black white sing’les, to interact with each other…no bounds or extremes in front of true love.
