“Dust Yourself Off & Try Again”: Folks Who Should Find Something Else To Do

February 18th, 2012 - By Drenna Armstrong

Ever watch a movie or listen to a song by someone and say, “Goodness, can they give it up already?!” I mean, of course you don’t want to be a dream killer but you just wish that some people realize that their time has passed and it’s time to go do something else.  The next few pages list some people I think fall into that category –They just won’t give it up!  No matter what though, they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

I’m still rooting for Ciara too. And since when is being too sexy a bad thing? Funny how that’s never a problem for a white singer…

I’ve said that least 298883 times. SCK was here

It seems that they are doing just fine. How is 100,000 units considered small? Too often we see everything that’s not superstardom as unimportant. Then when they are superstars we hate on them. We abuse them verbally. Superstardom kills. #Realtalk.

I think Cici still has a chance. I’m really rooting for her that her new album does well. She’s working with LA Reid so hopefully that helps.

  • Nik

It’s “one trick pony” not “one track” unless you’re talking about her weave. But you weren’t. Bad editing. Worse yet–bad writing!

DUST YOURSELF OFF AND TRY AGAIN: Wannabe Journalists whose grammar could automatically raise the self-esteem of my elementary-aged child’s classmates—Dreanna Armstrong. I came upon this site about a month ago. Was at first interested in the vast coverage of topics of interest to Us. Since Madame Noire’s staff won’t answer any e-mails to their provided address; I’m asking out loud: “Who Dared Approve This Article” I guess it’s [Whoever YOU Are] with whom I got a bone to pick. It was all I could do to even finish reading this ‘article’ after seeing Lil Kim get slammed so hard. Will [we] ever learn from anything or anybody??? In recent light of Sister Whitney’s passing, where’s
    1. respect for all our other Big Sisters who’ve paved the road with their blood, sweat, and tears?
    2. respect for all our other Big Brothers who’ve paved the road with their blood, sweat, and tears?

It’s (unfunny) for (Picture-Free) Dre to go on Kimberly like that for her perceived issues….when she’s probably got more than a few of them in common. (if not, picture, please….since you’re so picture perfect yourself!)

Lest I ramble, one more word to Dre: Get A Life and Act Like You’ve a Weeee Bit More Sense if you’re gonna call yourself a journalist/blogger/writer/intelligent human being/etc.

    • Divanerd

Her name is spelled Drenna, not Dreanna – if you want to be grammatically correct.

  • Nawaz_shrf

Lil Kim became a even bigger star without Big so I disagree.

    • StarsRus

      I agree with
NAWAZ_SHRF  and anyone who’s over the age of 25 knows it’s the truth. It’s almost like people choose to have selective memories when it comes to the past.

    1.Ray J
    2.Soulja boy
    3.cassie
    4. omarion and the whole click
    5. No limit and the whole click
    6.Ashanit
7.Nelly hate to admit it.lol so fine
I agree with ciara- she was doing so well until jazzy phae stop the tracks for her pure garbage.
vivica-loved her back then got with 50 damaged goods
Kim-Should have playef it smart and jumped on the track maybe she would of did better with sales

  • mello

Bow wow should be on this list. Once he started making songs talking about adult subjects, i believe that’s when he feel off. Everybody loved Bow wow as a kid but as an adult, not so much.

  • http://twitter.com/cocoa49 toni

This list is accurate for the majority, but one or two still have a chance. There is talent there, but their fans have either grown up or not into them any more. Their sales keep their heads just above water and keep them in the media. Like I mentioned, for some it is not the lack of talent just their fans have moved on.

  • RedButterfly81

I rather see Ashanti, Keri Hilson and Cassie on this list than Carl Thomas or Tyrese!

  • Lola

Please add Ashanti to the list.

  • BG

Tyrese should not be on here. He’s acting in blockbuster movies – Transformers and Fast and Furious. He’s doing really well, maybe not musically but overall he is doing pretty well. I know Ciara deserves to be on here, but I really really like her and I sincerely hope her music career isn’t over. I really wish her the best.

  • Sexylilmiss

t funny how we seem to sh#t on our own people, thats why we dont get respect like we should in the music, movie, entertainment industry period, because of people like you.  The people you named have actual talent, I believe that no one should ever give up on what that love
to do, instead of hating, start supporting and actually give these
artists some type of advertising when they have new projects, truth of
the matter is alot black artists dont get the promotion budget compared
to their other counterparts, people like you kill me, dont even make half of what they make, but always have something to say

    • Sincere

I agree with the list, but you could take Brandy off and replace her with Bow Wow

  • Adrian Khan (The Soca Warrior)

The same couldve been said for Jay in 2006-08.But thats all you need is one hit and you’re back.
